Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

We just finished A Timeless Christmas we enjoyed it. I appreciated that it was a more muted movie in terms of sugary sweet. I did like Ryan Paevey in the role he had that subdued nature going. I can understand what people were meaning with plot holes. This was a movie where they decided to ignore all of that in favor of just focusing on a romance between the leads; even his attempt to get back home was half-hearted when it came down to it.

I will say I just couldn't keep my mind from comparing it to The Spirit of Christmas as there were enough similarities. Hands down The Spirit of Christmas wins but A Timeless Christmas is a solid addition for Hallmark. I suspect I'll probably have it as one of my favs this year for movies but there's a ton more movies to go!

I understand the comparison with Spirit of Christmas and Timeless Christmas. I like the latter more. I wasn't fond of the bootlegging/murder part of The Spirit of Christmas.

We watched Last Christmas on HBO last night. I had very low expectations, critics didn't like it at all. OMG, we loved it so much. I cried...a lot. And of course the soundtrack is amazing.
I'd like to see that. It's not super high on my list purely because I can watch it from the library nowadays anytime but I still plan on watching it. I haven't looked into the soundtrack but I might go perusing on Spotify soon for that.

I just found out there is such a thing as Hot Chocolate BOMBS for making hot chocolate!

Did you guys know about these? I'm surprised they haven't made their way into Hallmark movies yet.

Basically they are a hard chocolate shell made by melting chocolate chips into a mold to make a hollow shell. Fill the inside with 1 serving of hot chocolate mix, add mini marshmallows and any optional candies, like candy sprinkles, crushed peppermint candy, mini chocolate chips or mini M&M’s. Cover with more melted chocolate. Chill until firm. Place a hot chocolate bomb into a wide cup. Cover with steamed milk (or water, depending on the hot chocolate mix. Watch the bomb melt and break open. The marshmallows float to the top. Stir to mix the hot chocolate mix and melted chocolate shell.

These bombs are made in a heart shaped silicone mold. Most people use a round, half dome mold. They need to be stirred a lot more than in this video, after the bomb opens.

Here are ones made in a simple muffin tin with mini paper cupcake liners instead of a silicone mold. Put in the melted chocolate chips, push up the sides, halfway, like in video above. Fill with hot chocolate mix. Cover with more melted chocolate chips to seal, and sprinkle the marshmallows & candies on top. Push down slightly so they stick to the chocolate before it cools. peel off the cupcake liner before dropping into a mug.

I read Costco may have hot chocolate bombs for sale.

BEWARE of buying from Amazon. They have one listed. Turns out it is a box of ONE bomb - meaning for ONE serving, for $11.99. :faint: And in the reviews, it arrives crushed. I can do that myself while making one and for a third of the price. :headache:

I preordered some as stocking stuffers from a local bakery. They were a lot less than then Amazon ones. I think they would be fun to make if you get the mold.

It’s definitely worth a watch, but be prepared for tears. I had spoiled the ending for myself, but DW wasn’t expecting what happened and was full on crying for a good half an hour after.

Yep, that was me!

Makes a mental note--do not watch if in a certain mood or even in a hint of a certain mood

Thanks for the warning!

I watched, The Christmas Doctor. It may well end up on my favorites list for this year. Still too early in the season.

It is very well written. It seems to start out like the light - fluff, Candace Cameron Bure movie, where she goes to a small town in Alaska to do a temporary stint as a doctor. But, that's where the similarities end. This movie is a bit more serious. And has a surprising twist near the end that I didn't see coming. I was guessing something else.

It's executive produced by NBC's weatherman, Al Roker. He is also executive producer on Holly Robinson-Peete's non-Christmas series on HMM, Morning Show Mysteries. So, I think he's responsible for keeping the writing quality high.

Holly is a co-executive producer as well as the lead actress. I have a feeling she is the one responsible for them casting a delicious hottie as her male lead, Adrian Holmes. He kind of reminds me of Shemar Moore, only without the slick smoothness Shemar can have.

The director directed all of the Signed, Sealed, & Delivered, movies. He's good at hitting the right emotional touches. (I watched the SS&D Christmas movie again last night. I made sure to record it when they showed it this summer. I have a feeling they won't air it without doing a SS&D marathon again - even though the Christmas movie is what got me watching the rest of the series. :sad2: )

I definitely recommend this movie. :thumbsup2

And the overly British setting gave me a lot of Love Actually vibes.

I just checked Spectrum Cable to see if Love Actually, is airing this season. They are making people pay $3.99 to see it On Demand. Yet, some cable channel shows it a gazillion times all summer.

I really liked it too.

I saw on commercials for AMC’s Christmas lineup that they’ll have the rights to it this season. They may just not be airing it until December which probably wouldn’t show up in the Spectrum guide yet. Hold out hope!

Jingle Jangle on Netflix is amazing. Great story and the music is awesome!
I agree! DH got a new TV for us on Friday and we ended up watching this as our first show and it was a great pick. Amaaaazing visuals, and the cast and dancing are fantastic. Definitely one that’ll be an annual repeat for our family.

Am currently partway through Timeless Christmas and enjoying it. (Had to take a break and take the cat out.)

For those who like the time travel ones, there was one a couple years ago called Journey Back to Christmas that I really loved. I’ll keep an eye out for it in this year’s repeats and try to give a heads-up here.

Time for Nashville Christmas Carol.

I saw that one in my DVR now and I’m looking forward to it!

I’ve got that one set to tape as well.
