What kind of prices is everyone getting from the airlines? we are planning on flying out of halifax on april 03 to the 10, i haven't booked a flight yet. but i keep checking air canada's prices, and they keep going up..a month ago was $117.00 each way, a week ago was $142.00 each way., now its $252.00 each way. i wish i had the money a month ago to book..but air canada want everything up front..and when i am paying for 5 people thats $2000.00.
what kind of pricing are you all getting??
i already booked a hotel, i hope the prices come back down...or i may not be able to afford to go...

Have you looked at Continental?

We want to go in March but aren't ready to buy yet either. Contineltal is showing much lower than AirCanada or WestJet (About CAD$445 taxes in)

BTW, Some of the flights with the best prices for us would mean an overnight layover one way in Newark which I actually think would be kinda cool.

We booked on Continental. With taxes it was $396.00 (Canadian). I had been looking for a month or so and finally booked early summer. We are flyin over March Break (Mar 11-19). We flew Continental a few years ago and they were great to fly with.

One hint I can give you is to download "sidestep" (www.sidestep.com). It will compare all airlines for you and that is how I found the airfare I did. I didn't book with them, but just called the airline directly. Sidestep searches smaller airlines that Expedia and Travelocity don't (like Canjet, and Westjet).

Good luck

for our trip Jan23-Fe10, we're paying $1578.48 total for four.
We're flying YHZ to YUL to MCO. Leave Halifax at noon, and arrive in MCO at 6:15 or so.

Direct flight sure would be great, and next time WestJet will certainly be at the top of our list, but we're flying with family and meeting in Montreal.

What really hurts is that the actual Air Transport fees are ONLY $976 for the four of us - the rest is TAXES!!!!!

A really good TA will help lots as well - they are hard to find!!...but here's a personal "thumbs up" for Amberle3:)

We are booked on Continental for March (12-27) for $440 Cdn each (taxes included). We were happy with that price although Westjet had some fabulous deals for the fall. Friends got tickets from Halifax to Orlando for $250 Cdn return (taxes in) but those flights only went from Oct 1 to Dec 15. The prices the last week or two have been increasing quite quickly--not sure if that will stay like this or come back down.

Booked with AC back in June. $400.00 taxes in. That is a pretty good price for April.

I just checked your dates (Apr 3-10) on Air Canada and it is $117 each way--$387.85 taxes in. That seems like a great price to me. I would grab it quickly!

hi splash mom, yup..your right $117.00 each way with air canada, that is a great price..!!! unfortunately, if you type in 5 passengers those $117.00 flights aren't available. :(
they probably only have 1 or 2 seats left at that price...thanks for the responce anyway..maybe they'll come down in a couple of months..or maybe some people will cancel...making more seats available..?:)

Just keep checking! For my flights in October the prices were up and down and all over the place! They were ~$140 each way one day, $252 the next week, $122 the next. I never knew when to book, so I sucked it up and got them for $392 taxes in, which I thought rocked. I guess I would take the chance and maybe wait a bit longer, even book the cheap ones now (1 or 2 or whatever), and if worse comes to worse book other flights for the others. We had to book friends on Continental when no more AC flights were cheap. No big deal, we just have to wait about an hour in Orlando for them.

...but again those CanJet direct flights at $117 are aweful tempting!

If you haven't already done so, it might help to call the AC reservation number directly and see what pricing is available. Sometimes the deals are better than what appears on their website.

Here's my experience: In July, I was trying to book for March 2005 for 4 from Toronto to Orlando. The travel will be around Easter and I wanted to make sure we had seats on AC. The cheapest option at the time on the AC website were the "fun" category of air fares. I think it was about $2,000 for all of us taxes in. I called the AC reservation line just to make sure I understood what the differences in the various fare categories were. She advised me that the "fun" fare was a self-booking category and I don't even think the pricing for that category showed up on her screen. I was about to hang-up and book the "fun" fare myself but the AC agent said "let me see if I can get something cheaper for you". After typing a few things in her computer, she was able to get us return seats at $386 per person taxes in. (the total was about $1,500). The only compromise was that our return would be on a later flight on the same day. Both legs were still non-stop flights. The fare category was equivalent to "economy" but the rate she gave us was definitely not on the AC website and my sense was that AC agent's assistance was only forthcoming when she thought I was going to try to book the fare myself over the internet.

I booked our family of five online about 4 weeks ago through westjet. Total cost for all including taxes was 1947. I've checked since then and prices have gone up somewhat (It would cost us an extra 150 if we booked now. I'm very pleased with the price and I hear WestJet is great to fly with. It's our first trip as a family (husband & I went alone in 1989). We leave Fri Jan 28 about 6:30am and arrive Orlando just after lunch (quick stopover in Toronto). Good luck and keep checking the websites as they really do seem to jump around alot.
