Halftime Show

I was really surprised to see all of the positive reviews, because I thought the performance by Shakira was lackluster, but when you combined that with JLO, and then add in the 40-50 y/o age group plus cultural diversity, I thought the show really shined. Maybe not to the positive hype that I've seen since, but it was quality.

Overall I liked it though I do share a lot of the same thoughts of many people here.

I thought both women did a great job. Their dancing was great, high energy, etc. I have always liked Shakira's voice but have never been a particular fan of either women, their music just isn't my style. I don't even mind that they lip synced. You can't sing even half way decently while dancing like that.

The costumes didn't bother me really except I agree with others that seeing the silver body suit peeking out from JLo's leather costume did look like a spangly maxi pad.

Most of the dance moves I thought were fine but I will say the finger licking, rope dance, crotch shots, pole dancing, and crotch grabs were a bit much. The gyrating and hip movements didn't bother me at all, Shakira sure can dance, but there were some places where I thought it could have been toned down a touch. And for those who say JLo wasn't grabbing her crotch so much as trying to avoid a wardrobe malfunction I say if that is the case then her designers were incompetent. There is absolutely no reason why that should have been the case if she had a good design with proper construction especially since she had a full body suit on underneath so even if the crotch of the black leather outfit blew out no one was going to see anything anyway.

Over all though, even at 50 and 43 both women are still gorgeous and are still fierce. Good on them.

"Nude" being the key word...aka naked-looking..."essentially naked." IMHO it was o v e r - t h e - t o p. I know that she likes to dress in a certain way...if you've got it, flaunt it. I just think that there is a taste level that is questionable. That's all. I still love JLo, her acting more than her singing. I saw her movie over the summer and liked it.
Nude as in a color, same coverage as white, pink, black....Dancers often wear nude colored body suit without any embellishments at all. She wasn't even close to essentially naked. She was fully clothed in a body suit.

You see more skin on a beach than what JLo showed.

You are correct but I would suggest that it isn't always the amount of skin showing that determines the sexiness of an outfit.

True, however, the way it appeared is not the case. I was not looking at her using a magnifying glass. It looked like she was not covered. Am I not permitted to comment on what I thought when I saw her in that costume?
I didn't need a magnifying glass. It's pretty obvious she was wearing a body suit.

If you have the same comment with circus performers/acrobats/dancers/cheerleaders, then cool.

If the comment was influenced by the WAY she was dancing and the apparatus she used, that's a different story.

Not for nothing, but I didn’t see the bodysuit underneath either. I couldn’t care less what she wears or doesn’t wear. Perhaps you have a higher quality television than Maggie Gallagher and me. Or perhaps she and I need glasses.

Whatever.

Not sure Maggie Gallagher belongs in this conversation; she has Coke bottle lenses in her eyeglasses same as two of my sisters:lmao:. One of my childhood nicknames was Mr. Peabody soooo I guess I can see out of one eye at least;). Nothing wrong with getting ones's eyes checked regularly:).

:magnify:

I actually do wear glasses. I have a so so television. Maybe Summer2018 is right. Maybe that's why I didn't see what was underneath. I don't know, and I don't care. I mean seriously?! Why am I wasting time replying to this nonsensical thread? I don't know. I literally could stick a fork in my eye right now.

Guys, I wasn't looking that closely. Good Lord Louise! I was watching her dance. I wasn't examining her costume. I assumed that her costume was made of pantyhose type material with the silver stuff attached. What I didn't see was the nude shapewear or underwear or leotard or whatever you costume experts call it. I legit thought there was nothing underneath besides her privates and skin...hand to God.

Feel free to continue to comment about my comments. I've got better things to do.

Perhaps you are right.:hyper2:

I'm seriously baffled how anyone didn't realize she had on a bodysuit. Did you think they just bedazzled her skin?

Speaking for myself I was well aware she had a bodysuit on but I am of the opinion that just because actual skin isn't showing doesn't mean it isn't sexy. Especially because it was flesh toned it was meant to be risqué and sexy.

I also assumed it was pantyhose-type material, and at any rate, the point of either material is this:

It was supposed to look like nothing!

Some of us simply think that level of "nothing" (combined with a very "adult" dance style) was over-the-top for the particular target audience. That's all. - It's perfectly OK that we all have different comfort levels with that.

"Adult" dance style? Come on. I'm guessing you never took dance. And trust me, that body suit was a lot thicker than you think it was.

I don't know why you responded to a week old thread. She wasn't basically nude. It's not opinion, it's a fact.
