I read a story this weekend that Lady Gaga "warned" that there better not be any lip syncing.

I would have preferred live singing.

I'm not a huge fan of either performer, but I thought it was a great show. Super high energy and you cannot deny that both Shakira & JLo look absolutely amazing.

And for everyone being negative about their outfits or lack of clothing...I don't remember any complaining about half-naked Adam Levine last year.

Other than people saying that his tattoos looked like a Chipotle bag

I have a difficult time telling if something is lip synced. But many are saying Shakira definitely did it and perhaps J-Lo too.

Well, that would be a new concept, because it hasn't really been a thing up to now. Not really at least. Last year, for example, wasn't really "Georgia" themed, was it? I mean Big Boi was from Georgia, but Maroon 5 and Travis Scott aren't. Super Bowl LII (the best ever) was in Minnesota and had JT and the Tennessee Kids, which isn't Minnesota related at all, either.

This one was Latin themed because two Latinas were headlining.

It's probably not pure lip-synching, but I'm sure they were using a backing track that covers any issues. I honestly don't really mind it, as this isn't so much a concert as it is just a production. It's a small moment of entertainment in the middle of a football game and is more about the spectacle than actual music.

Yep, the logistics of putting on the whole show in such a short time is mind boggling so I'm willing to give the performers plenty of slack.

THAT I would tune in for! I haven’t watched a halftime show since Miss Ross in ‘96. I used to enjoy the Disney produced shows with the Motown/Broadway etc themes. Suitable for all ages from little ones to grandparents.

For a broadcast with so many family viewers in prime-time, I thought the half-time show could have been more 'family-friendly'. What some others see as 'high energy' looked to me overly frantic like they had to get in as many song clips/dance routines, etc. as possible in the short time allocated for half-time.

What was up with commercials? They all were kinda blah.

I agree, far too many for TV shows or movies. Hard to tell with some of the spots what product they were even advertising.......LOL. Usually there is a good mix of serious/funny spots, but most just did nothing for me this time. They spent a LOT of their ad budget for spots that weren't memorable. I laugh about the ones where they give you some website to go look up like it somehow becomes an assignment for the viewers to figure out what they were watching.

She is paid very well to look the way she looks. It is literally her job.

I thought this was an awesome half time shows. Although I was waiting for Wyclef (sp) to come out with Shakira or Ja rule to come with j.lo I love the fact that they only brought out Latin artist. Both Shakira and JLo brought awesome energy from the start to the end. The dancing was amazing and although I like both Shakira was the star of this for sure.

I watched with my daughter and nieces and nephews all who are in ages from 5-18. Not one of them was embarrassed or shocked or felt less empowered. DD was dancing and signing along as was everyone else in our house. If anything we all felt empowered that two Latin artist were doing the half time show. As soon as Shakira came out and said "Hola Miami" I knew it was gonna be great.

If you know who Shakira or Jlo is you also know they are always showing off their incredible bodies. Women empowerment is not about women covering up or not dancing sexy. Women empowerment is about women doing whatever they want to do at whatever age they want to do with out society or especially other women judging or telling us its wrong or shaming them.

I would not be opposed to that. I went to the Tattoo in Edinburgh a few years ago. So amazing! Some of those drum lines were just WOW!

Didn't watch it. I spent halftime getting in my last two games of Junkyard in the pinball league I'm in.

I rarely watch the SB halftime show to begin with anyway.

I didn't get a chance to watch it last night as we were driving from one location to another during the Half Time show. I watched it a bit ago though on YouTube.

I really preferred Shakira's performance but I think Shakira has always done things big time with her culture--her moves didn't makes me think it was too much sexuality; they've matched up with how she's been all along.

JLO has strayed into more pop and what's 'in' at the moment so I guess for her it kinda felt more forced like "must do something to get the tongues wagging". It fell more flat for me for her.

Shakira IMO picked outfits that were more flattering to her too. JLO's more prominent outfit just looked weird but to be fair I'd probably think that way on any person.
