I have bought books from Half Price Books but have any of you ever sold there? I know they are not in every state but hoping I can get some feedback on what kind of $ they offer and if you found it worth it. Hoping to take some books in sometime. :)

Not worth it. My mom brought in bags of paperback novels and she maybe got $5 for everything there. Now if the option is that or nothing then selling them is a little better.....

Another not worth it. Took in about 20 books. Most hardcover. Couple of cookbooks, 2 were celebrity chefs. Got a whole $6.

If you are heading there and have books that were going to Goodwill then take them for a few bucks. If you make a special trip or expect to get enough money for lunch, skip it. :goodvibes

HPB has way to many books system-wide, so they pay really low.

However they do pay a decent amount for DVD's.

For children's books I agree, not worth it. They have lots and offered 5 cents per book.

But, I brought some "coffee table books" and made $22. That is decent money in my pocket and shipping would have eaten up my profit if I'd tried to sell them on half.com or amazon where you get the same shipping allowance for a standard size hardback novel or a big coffee table book.

I agree with "if you are driving that direction, you'll pick up a few bucks and some free space at your house. Probably not worth a special trip."

I would say that it depends on what you have. The other posters are right that you won't get much for paperbacks or older titles, but las summer when we were moving out of Houston, I took a bunch of popular hardback children's picture books that were in good condition such as Eric Carle. I got over $40 for the total.

Usually though I just give the used books to our local church thrift store to sell.

I have found with the ones I go to, it depends on what day you go and which one I go to. I get a decent amount for anything I sell, especially DVD's. Books are low though but I will sell them there if I am taking in other items.
