I couldn't agree more. Everyone I know just loves their New Balance running shoes. I like one pair of my New Balance - and that's because they're extra wide in two different sizes (each for a different foot). All other shoes I like have been wide Nikes. They fit my feet the best.
It's mostly on your feet and what works best for you.
Now, I will also say that I cheat on this. . .I went to the running shoes and what I bought did not work on my feet. The people working at the stores are rarely American Indian or Latino (Indios really) and just sometimes don't "get" that shape of foot.
I learned by going to a thrift store around here that has a LOT of quality running shoes for cheap, buying different brands in almost new condition and wearing them around until I got a feel for the shoe. I have worn just about every high end brand sneaker made for running that's out there. I've learned my preferences.
Nikes for running, Skecher or Nike for hanging out. They work for my feet. But they may not for your feet. My feet are extra wide and have the "bumpity" on top. Yours may be totally different.
