Is it possible for me to do a 5k or half marathon in disney as a single parent? Meaning my kids will be with me, but I have no one else with me to watch them. Are they allowed to come with me and just hang out and watch? They would be 14, 12, and 8 at the time. I'm new to this and was wondering how that would work and if it's even possible with us being there alone.

They would be allowed I imagine, but wouldn't be supervised. I think Disney does have in-room babysitting options? I can't imagine them following along on a long route, but sitting put for a 5k I can imagine as more feasible, if you felt comfortable with that.

Hi Disney_ girl 125
I'm not sure about Disney's policy when it comes to babysitting but I do have babysitting info if you want to pm me I can pass it on to you. I'm not sure how much I can say before it's considered soliciting business. I would be happy to pass on what I know in a pm.

If you do a 5K, and have the cash to spend, they could run with you. For the half marathons we've done at Disney, since we have to be there around 3:00 am, I've left my twin 13-year-olds in the room. They had cell phones and we were back by 9:30, so I felt comfortable doing this, but that would be an individual decision.

Despite my kids knowing Disney extremely well, I would not be comfortable with them traveling to watch the race on their own for at least a few more years. It's just too confusing, and there are too many people.

Moving to the Events/Competition side of WISH. You may get additional info from folks there.

I know that Kids Night Out (which we have used and would definitely use again) was offering in-room babysitting starting at 2:00 AM for the 1/2 and Full last year, so you might check their website. For the 5K, I think they would probably be fine to hang out at the finish line with a snack, as long as you trust your older kids to watch the 8 year-old closely. For the 1/2, I definitely would not be comfortable having them wait for you at the finish, because it is just super chaotic. Depending on the kids, I would probably do in-room sitting or just have them stay in the room with a cell phone. Realistically, they will probably still be asleep or just waking up when you return (depending on your finish time, of course).

Thanks for the replies. I think i'm going to do the half marathon. My 14 year old is too old for kids night out (it's up to 12). My kids stay home alone now. I personally have no problem letting them stay in the room alone. I just don't want to get in trouble!
