I don't want to agrue with you but I do want to say that when you attend a convention, which we have in the past, you are allowed to get tickets for your friends that are traveling with you. The tickets are not just for the attendees but their family & friends as well. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
Also, not to nitpick but I went ahead and bolded a section of your post. Note that you yourself used the terms "family" and "friends".
Yes, legitimate convention attendees are allowed to purchase Convention tickets for the rest of their travelling party, or in your words, "friends" and "family". Random strangers that you do not know on a internet website is not someone I'd consider "family" or "friends", two words that you yourself used. It's like if I purchase a bunch of Cast Member discounted tickets and then made those available to random people I do not know... it's pretty much the same thing and I KNOW I'd get in trouble for that.
What we have here is a few folks who aren't attending the convention(s) in question purchasing Convention tickets that are not meant for them off the special convention-only websites. These folks are not entitled to these tickets because again, they are not attending that convention or are with someone who is attending the convention. Also take note that those tickets might have special expiration dates as well so they might not even be good for their visit.
Jazzatola, just because you've had access to a convention-tickets site in the past because you went to a convention DOES NOT give you carte blanche to access other convention's sites and instruct folks to purchase convention tickets that they are not entitled to. Each convention has their OWN special site, it's not just one generic site that is kept up 24/7 for ALL conventions in town... each convention, if they choose to even offer tickets to their attendees, gets their own special page so it's all documented and it's all charged to the convention appropriately if they choose to subsitize a portion of the ticket cost.
Again, assisting Guests to access convention-only ticket sites that they are not a part of and are not entitled to have access to is wrong. Pure and simple.

UPDATE: The front page for any convention-specific ticket site clearly states, "
Special tickets and savings only available for attendees and their guests". On the page where it lists all the tickets it clearly states, "All of these tickets expire on the third day after the last day of the specified convention. Dates vary according to convention.
Tickets are not available for purchase at the Box Office and are only valid for convention attendees and their family and friends.".
I don't know how that can be any clearer.
