Honest opinions please!!is it worth paying for half board?if so,which one to go for?
I like the idea of having most of our meals paid for before we go,but then I also like the idea of being to choose where we want to eat rather than having a few choices!lol!

Also-are the rooms at the Cheyenne large enough for a travel cot,or should I consider a different hotel? My first visit with small kiddies so am looking at everything from a different perspective!

Hi :goodvibes

I'm unable to help with regards to the cot :confused3

I was in the same dilemma as you with regards to the half board vouchers a couple months ago. I loved the idea of knowing things will be paid for in advance, but from what I've read - there is a limited menu when you use the vouchers.

Saying that, you can use all of your vouchers at cash value during your meals. So if you didn't like the look of the half-board menu, you could choose things from the regular menu and use your vouchers as part-payment towards the total bill.

I guess it all comes down to personal preference. :wizard:

Hope that's helped a little? :goodvibes

We have stayed in the Cheyenne with a travel cot and it was quite cramped but not impossible.

As for half board vouchers they will buy you a three course meal from a set menu or a full buffet. If you look in the brochure it tells you which restaurants you can save money in on each plan. Have a look and see which restaurants you would like to eat in to decide which plan would be best. You save very little money by using the vouchers and if you eat at a restaurant on a lower plan (eg standard restaurant with plus vouchers) then you can loose money. We still normally buy them for convenience but that is the only real benefit in my opinion.

Personally, I think the vouchers have really dropped in appeal now. It used to be 15% saving, but has now gone to 10%, and withe the drop in the Euro rate, they are not a valuable face value s they used to be. Saying that, if you really want to budget for your meals they can be handy to have them paid before hand. I have bought them once, the lowest ones available and we ate in the buffets and also Cafe Mickey face value. But this was back in 2009. Since then, i have joined the shareholders club and once again get a 15% discount and this works out great for us.

You are slightly restricted if you eat of the set menu (we were really upset with the choice in the Steak House, and at the time didn't think to use them at face value as it was new to us then) but you can indeed use them in any Disney table service/buffets. They are a great if you did as we did though, and eat mostly buffets as they work out great value and you know you are going to get a lot for your meal!

As mentioned, you can fit a cot in the Cheyenne, you will not have a lot of space but you certainly can fit one in. :thumbsup2

not worth it if you are having plus vouchers. we just did it and very limited choices due to limited restaurant rather than menu options, you have to buy plus vouchers if you stay in a 3 star like sequoia. i think they are good if you stay at cheyenne though as they are HB standard
#DDD.

You can buy any voucher at any hotel. You are right that when you book online each hotel type only offers you one type of voucher, but if you phone up you can add whiichever vouchers you like:)

i wish i would have known that! standard i think offers better value.
oh well next time!
Cheers

Don't save much money with vouchers but if you would like the peace of mind of paying in advance might be worth getting them.

For us we are now shareholders and have two small daughters one of which we would have to buy vouchers for even though she doesn't eat much so it works out much cheaper to buy when we are there. Which is what we will do.

I have to admit though it is more stressful than last time when we bought vouchers. Making sure we take enough money for all our meals and spending is preoccupying me a bit but I know the saving is worth it. I know though if my DH was organising the trip he would get the vouchers as he would be worried about taking enough money so would like meals paid for in advance.
