half appetizers at Jiko's

Will Jiko give you a half order of their appetizers? I ask because there are two I am very interested in trying. It will be and my DD8 so I know two appetizers plus dinner will be too much food for us. I am happy to pay for two full ones but I hate wasting food and didn't know if they would do a half order if you requested it.

hmm if I have to pay full price anyway, I would expect the entire appetizer and would just take the leftovers with us (which I don't really want to do). I think what I am really asking is will they let me do half orders at a lower price? Not a big deal, I was just wondering as I sit here and obsess over my trip that is 11 months away

I've never tried to do 1/2 orders at 1/2 price, so I don't know. They used to have a great appetizer which was a taste of everything. I don't think they do that anymore.

given the small size of appetizers at signature restaurants across property, I'd be very surprised if this was allowed. We did 4 signature restaurants last trip and had appetizers at all of them, and unless we chose a soup, the appetizer was usually 4-5 bites worth.

I'm not sure I've ever heard of a really nice restaurant letting you order just half an appetizer. : But then I've never tried either, so maybe it's been possible and I just wasn't aware.

Ah, well if they are small than it isn't an issue. Whenever I look at the pictures they look large, but the pictures could be misleading.

Like I said, it's more about not wasting the food and not so much about the price.

Why do you say they don't do the appetizer sampler anymore? Did you order it recently and they said they no longer do it? This would break my heart. It was the best way to go for 2-3 people.

How about making those appetizers your meal? You could add a salad and it might be enough food for you. I often find that appetizers are the most interesting part of the menu, so it could be worth doing.

BTW, I do know that Jiko will let you pair any main course with any side from anothe dish. My MIL asked for the mac and cheese from one dish along with the pork tenderloin, subbing out whatever side came with that. The server didn't hesitate and responded "of course we can do that". Granted not the same request, but just pointing out that you can tinker a bit with the menu and they were accomodating.

I thought about that but I really want to try the filet. Not a big deal, me and my DD will just make pigs of ourselves or take the rest with us. I am a former server and I know most nice restaurants will be accomodating if you are nice about it, so we'll see what happens. Thanks!

I've never heard of a restaurant letting you order 1/2 of an appetizer. I think you'd better plan to try only one of the two you really want or have lots of food left over.
