It was Saturday and we hadnt originally planned on going to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday, not believing the Unofficial Guide that Saturday was the quietest day for the MK but we changed our plans and gave it a try. Guess what? Very light crowds.
First on the list was the Tomorrowland Speedway. Hayley loves that one and we wanted to do it right away because light crowds or not, that one always seems to have a line. Grabbed fastpasses for Space Mountain and then the girls went on the Astro Orbiters. We then headed for Mickeys Philharmagic. What a wonderful show. Its Disney at its best ! I had tears running down my face. Since we were just hitting the MK quickly before heading to EPCOT, we used our Space Mountain fastpasses and then headed out.
We were able to ride up front again on the monorail between MK and EPCOT. The driver was so nice and she gave us each our co-pilots certificate when we left. I think I was more thrilled than the girls were!
As we entered EPCOT, the line for Spaceship Earth was a bit long so we decided to head to Test Track, grabbed some fastpasses and then rode it right away using the singles line with no wait. The girls debated back and forth about going on Mission Space and finally decided to give it a whirl (so to speak!) and I definitely was not going on. The wait was only 10 minutes and I went over to Mouse Gear to browse while they went on the ride.
We were getting hot so we did Universe of Energy. I love the dinosaur part but the whole thing is a bit long but at least it was cool. I think Alli had another nap.
We went over to World Showcase around 11:30 and it was dead. Walked right onto El Rio del Tiempo and Maelstrom. It was now time for some lunch so we stopped at Yakitori House in Japan. We all had the Teriyaki Chicken. It was a really nice size portion for only $5.00.
Hayley and I really wanted to explore the countries, but Alli was getting into her Im hot. Im tired. When are we going back to the hotel mode that was starting to become a daily occurrence at this time. Grrrr. We did a shortened tour of the countries with Hayley having a mini meltdown when the Beavertail place wasnt open. That was quickly alleviated with a chocolate chip cookie from another stand.
Back over to Future World, used our Test Track fastpasses and then did Honey I Shrunk the Audience. The pre-show was new since we last saw it and we really enjoyed it. Hayley and I were both teary eyed in the lost dog part we have a Golden Retriever (Annie)
We then went to Journey Into Imagination, another of Hayleys favorites. I tossed out a plan to do Living With the Land and then Spaceship Earth before heading back to the hotel and Alli started whining that she just wanted to go back to the hotel. Okay shes a big girl, so very nicely I suggested she head out and go back to the hotel and Hayley and I would meet her in a couple of hours. She was agreeable to that, so Hayley and I went off for some nice mom and DD time. It was really nice to have some time to ourselves. We did Living Seas, Living With the Land, Imagination (again) and then Spaceship Earth on the way out.
We went back to the hotel where Alli was napping ( ahhhhh the life of a 15 year old) so we just sat on the balcony until it was time to get ready to go to Boma.
I was a little hesitant to take the girls to Boma not sure if they would eat enough to make it worth our while, but walking by there every day and smelling those wonderful smells, I knew I couldnt pass it up.
We were a little bit early checking in so we went to the Victoria Falls lounge to wait. I had the AKL special martini. Yum .not exactly sure what was in it and after I finished it I dont think I even cared! We just got our drinks in the lounge when our buzzer went off so I had try to maneuver the stairs down to Boma with a full martini in my hand. Didnt spill a drop though!
Oh I do love Boma. Last year I felt so bad feasting on everything while poor Cass sat there suffering the after effects of her Chicken Poop Pie experience. I decided I wasnt going to make a pig of myself and pace it so I could try a bit of everything. The soups are to die for. I tried both the Curried Coconut Seafood Soup and the Ginger Carrot soup. They are both wonderful! Im actually making the Ginger Carrot soup right now for my neighbor who is coming for dinner tonight. The sampled a bit of everything as well as a lot of the desserts! The girls both ate very well and were quite adventurous in trying new things although I do think Hayley may have cleared them out of their pizza..
With full tummies we went to the gift shop yet again and said hello to the animals at Arusha Rock before heading back to the room for the night.
