Hakuna Matata Team Challenge Hours/Miles

I can answer that for Kathy!! We have considered doing the Boulder to Boulder. But only for a moment, maybe two, but not much longer. In part because of the size of the thing, (Kathy doesn't like the big crowds). We really enjoy the Goosechase in Greenwood Village (a suburb of Denver). It is a fund raising event for children's charities. This will be the second year we will be doing that in early June. Of course, the Boulder to Boulder one is worth considering again. We are growing as racers!

The wounded Panda will just be contributing an hour of stretching and calistetics.

Dave you will get through this, really you will. I hate limping.

As Scott said, after a beautiful day here yesterday, it is snowing and blowing here today, currently 13 degrees, 25 mph wind, wind chill of 21 below:scared1: , don't think I will be going out today. The dogs will be really dinghy, but they did get two walks yesterday.

Dave, pixiedust: :grouphug: Pixie dust and hugs to you. Take care of the ankle.

Connie - the Goosechase sound interesting, we might look into that, Denver is only 2 hours away. Is there a website for the race?

Happy Valentines Day:lovestruc

Yes, Lynn there is a website. http://www.goosechase.org/ It's a lot of fun and you can choose a biking or running event! Plus, they give away all kinds of cool stuff with a raffle after the race and the meal is WONDERFUL. It's a really fun event.

2.0 miles on some new, allbeit odd, xtraining apparatus. It looks like what I would imagine the offspring of a stairmaster and elliptical machine would be. It's made by Cybex, but couldn't find an actual name for it. Must ask the GM of the club. It was a good workout; thought I should give it a try to give members some feedback should they ask. Oh and total time of 38:00

Dear Hakuna Matata mates,

Please forgive me for my lack of attention to the team as far as not contributing to our success this week. I am embarrased to say that I took the liberty for a rest day this past Wednesday due to school. Additionally, I am heading out the door shortly for a romantic anniversary/valentines weekend with my hubby in Daytona Beach :cool1:. I don't think I will be logging anything that I want to mention publically :lovestruc. I will however, be back and will contribute at least six miles on Sunday!

Connie, I am not sure if I sent you my two miles that I logged for Tuesday...I did receive confirmation that you logged my Monday hours. Thus far this week, I should only have 5 miles. I do apologize gang, I will do better, soon.

Hugs and well wishes ,
Donna Carter a.k.a. Bridgerunner

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! :lovestruc

Dave, you really will get through this. Be patient. Take some time to just relax and not fight against the pain. Try some other kinds of exercising that let your body heal, but not beat it up or quit entirely. Water aerobics is very low impact and a lot of fun, if they offer it at your gym. Maybe try finding a yoga class that is more about stretching and breathing than about cardio and nearly impossible poses. That way, you'll still be working out, still be in a routine, but allowing your body to heal. You can do it! It will get better!

Scott and Lynn, it would be fun if you could join Connie and I in Denver in June! It's a very relaxed event, lots of fun, and not so much distance that you're wiped out when it's over.

Good job, Stephanie, on getting back into the swing of things!

Donna, enjoy your time with your husband!

Another week finished already! Wow! Time sure does fly by!

Ok gang, not much of a week exercise wise but interesting none the less. I guess I can't count the breaking and entering as exercise, darn it.

Kathy I have a good routine of calistetics and stretching that I used to do to stay strong and limber.

My lame week was:

4 miles walking

4 hours of exercise.

I'm not limping tonight so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Or is that a train.

Wounded Panda:hippie:

Lost most of my workout time yesterday morning - work related :headache:
I did get 25 minutes on my mill and covered 1.6 miles! Hope everyone had great Valentine's Day :lovestruc

Ok I added one more hour of calistetics and stretching.

Here is my plan for rehabing my achillies:

2 weeks, no walking except of course what I need to get around.

Full stretching routine everyday. Everything is connected so that will help with the achillies as well as ensure I'm limber when it finally stops hurting.

The calistetics is to keep upper body and core strong and flexable.

Ice twice a day morning after the stretching and evening before bed.

Wish me luck.

Dave sounds like a good plan, any anti inflams???

Connie, just sent you a PM with our weekly times and miles, for the group, Scotts total was 20.03 miles, 5hours 6 min, and my total was 29.05 miles and 8hours 43 minutes. I'm afraid the weather slowed us down a bit on miles, and I was not very good with the cross training. I get a pilates tape in on mondays, but seem to skip the rest of the week. This week I will try to be better about the weight training.

Have a Hakuna Matata Day!

Good luck, Dave! I hope it works well for you. :shamrock:

Scott and Lynn - you guys are amazing! I don't know how you have time for all that exercise! But good going! :thumbsup2

I had a small exercising day today. Only 35 minutes in the pool. But I made them count! LOL!

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Morning Guys.

I went to the gym and did a good proper stretching routine. Then did some pool exercise and then went home to ice and advil my achillies. It is feeling better but I'm going to give it another week or proper treatment.

Log me 1 hr and 0 miles for today.

Thanks for covering for me this week.

Not so wounded Panda.:hippie:

Looks like an off day so far for us as we are working on tiel in the basement.

Hi team, I feeling better every day I'll be back cranking the miles soon, I promise.

On the walking thread Denise talked about how her workout clothes got better care and folding and an honored place in the chest of drawers. I called them her armor and weapons. She is evolving into a warrior.

There is such a close resemblence between endurance sports and being a warrior.

Just like a person going into their first half or full marathon, a new soldier in combat is nerveous and often scared spitless. But over time he becomes a real warrior, a predator hunting his enemy. He no longer fears that which goes bump in the night because it's him. That's the way an endurance athlete evolves. You get to the level that you know you will finish, that's a foregone conclusion, you go now to do better than the last time. You go to help your brothers and sisters get through their race and celabrate your victory.

Yes we are warriors and yes we are the predators, together we take on the baddest distances and make them our own.

Well Said....

We worked 12 hours strait with only a 20 min lunch break, on the basement shower tub tile, we are both sore. LOL..

If we get any exercise in today it will be TM or Bowflex.

I want to get the cabinets in and the counter top built today.

Wow Scott you and Lynn are really moving on that house. You need to share pictures when you get your castle built. We will have our house paid of in 3 years so we are going to start remodeling then.

Does anyone else have a storm coming?

Rehab Panda:hippie:

Scott you are a slave driver! No wonder you do endurance events!

We have the dead-ish elm trees out of the way and dirt hauled in for the new shop. We are coming along nicely. Now, if it would just not get below freezing and dry up, we can start the concrete work.
