Hakuna Matata - Speedy September

Rick: Where are you????

Lol! I am still here! Trying to keep to my training for my first timed Full marathon. :) I am enjoying watching my son run Cross Country (XC) this fall as an incoming Freshman. He already runs a 5K under 23 minutes! My son the Speed Demon!

I have races the next two Sundays... A Half and a 20-Miler. Then it is taper time!

So I am here. Just seems like my schedule is full everyday between work, training, and XC meets.

Hey Elizabeth, hope things slow down for you soon life just gets in the way doesn't it.

Kipp: I always like my first stop to be MK, I don't really feel I am at WDW till I see the castle.

Hi Rick!!!! I got your text messages this morning but since we are a hour ahead I didn't text you back. Glad to see you are doing well and concentrating on your training. That is awesome news for Ryan, he has a ton of energy I can see him doing great!!!

I am actually enjoying training this time around things are feeling good. Little twinges here and there but nothing like I hve experienced in the past so hope that keeps true.

Have a great day everyone

Kim

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I have just gotten back into training. However, just hearing about everyone else's training and races keeps me motivated!

Rick, good luck on your 2 races!

Elizabeth, I hope to as well. Good luck on your ToT race.

Tonight I have an easy 4 mile run. Last night I had 3 miles on my schedule and I decided to just run a 5k (3.1). I pushed it harder and got back under a 10 minute pace for the first time since I started running again. I had a 9:56 mpm. I am going to slow down a bit for a little while, prob like 30ish seconds to continue working on my conditioning. However, it was a confidence boost to see my time back under 10minutes again.

Also, I have an awesome wife. My 9th anniversary was 8/9. My wife got my a late anniversary present: a garmin 110 forerunner. Love it!

Good luck everyone!

Good Morning Team!

We are sitting in the John Wayne Airport waiting for our plane. It will be good to be home, if only for 4 days before we head out again. My knees are hoping for a few bike rides.

Kim - Next year in Jan we are headed to London for a week, I think just after the Marathon weekend, so we will not be making a last minute trip to WDW. Last year Scott was keeping the trip a secret for some reason.

Rick - Good to hear from you again.

Pixie adust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck with your race on Sunday Rick! Hope the weather stays cool and dry Can't wait to hear about it on Monday!

Septebmer
9 - Chicago Half Marathon, Rick

Weather looks good so far... Race temps between 55-70F. Thanks for the encouragement; it means a lot. :)

Good Morning Team!

Rick - Good luck on your race!

AFM - Came back from DL with a cold - it seemed to be going around there - several of our friends were complaining of getting sick while there - but did get dogs out for early walk this morning. We will see if we end up on bikes later or not. Spent yesterday doing laundry, today will have to pack for cruise.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

The DS had a cross country race this morning. He ran a 5K in 21:45! a 7 minute mile pace and new PR! Man, he was really moving!

I am very proud of him!

Lynn feel better!!!!!!

Rick tell Ryan congrats from Mike and I that is some super speed he has there. I am sure you told me but I need to start a spread sheet on what races everyone is doing. Was Ryan gonig to do any of the WDW races?

Nothing new for me, being a slug sitting on the couch watching football and golf all day. My LSD got rainned out sunny skies right now but so not feeling it going to go out early tomorrow with DS.

Have a great day all

Kim

Yeah, Ryan is pretty fast. Doing a 7:00/mm pace for a 5K is pretty awesome. I cannot keep up with him!

Ryan is doing the 5K with me at WDW (of course that means he will finish way before me LOL). Then I am doing Goofy.

If they let me start 20 mins before him we might finish at the same time :worship:

Goofy??? I thought you where doing dopey? I still have to register for the 5K I think it is at 60% so will keep a close eye on it.

Yeah, I am doing the 5K with Ryan, then doing the Goofy. So 5K + Goofy = Dopey. :) It will be interesting to see how I feel on Sunday afternoon. LOL

Good Morning Team!

Kim - Thanks!

Rick - Congrats to DS!

AFM - Cold still slowing me down! Did ride bikes to mail box and back but that was about it for yesterday. Resorting to DayQuil this morning to try to get rid of sinus headache.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team! Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! I had been in DL up until Thursday with very little Internet connectivity. The WiFi in my hotel was crap and there was NOTHING at LAX! I don't need to be connected 24/7, especially on vacation but having access to do an update now and then would have been nice. Oh well.

Lynn - It was great spending time with you and Scott (and the whole gang) last week! Thanks so much for the koek sister recipe! I'm going to print it out and put it on my to make list! Sorry to hear about the cold :( I heard a few people caught some kind of bug - it seems to happen after a vacation. Hope you're feeling better soon! Where are you off to now?

Rick - Congrats on your race! Can't wait to read the RR! And congrats to Ryan on his amazing 5K time! Talk about speedy!

Kim - Thought it was crummy that Run Disney was only giving out stuff to people signing up for the Princess Half. Even if you signed up for Goofy, they were only giving out a reusable shopping bag *pfftt* Give me a heads up when you're going to sign up for the 5K! I'm still thinking it over - I'm not sure whether I can do the three early mornings in a row :faint:

Tandy - How are your classes going?

Robbie - If you didn't want to go for a full day at the parks, you could go to DTD, play a round mini golf, drinks by the pool, watch the animals at AKL - in which case, you could eat at Boma instead. I think I have dinner plans that evening otherwise I would love to go to 'Ohana!

WTG on your 23 miler and all the mileage you've put in!

Tom - :welcome: If you have any races you'd like to add to the team calendar, just let me know! How are you liking your new Garmin? I need to get mine replaced - actually it's just the battery but it's going to cost me about $100 to do that because I have to send out the watch. I figured if I'm spending $100, I might as well get something new.

Dave - Good luck at the senior games! Your WDW is coming up! You must be excited :)

Elizabeth - How's your back feeling? Are you feeling good about ToT?

AFM - I came, I saw and I ran DL. I still prefer WDW - it's a different atmosphere that's for sure. I'm hoping to get my RR up sometime this week. Glad to have gotten my C2C :) I had a blast hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. Best part was that I only gained 0.2lbs during the trip. That was including one day where I had a mint chocolate chip sundae for dinner LOL (shhhh!!). But anyway, it's back to clean(ish) eating, gym workouts and training for MCM. I'm hoping I can drop another few pounds by then. Fingers crossed!

This weekend, I didn't get a chance to go running. I ended up going to see a couple of film screenings at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). These are just the afternoon screenings - they're not the ones that the stars go to. Those tickets are about $40 each and usually mobbed! I ran into my friend Shane today who was in line for the same film. He let me join him in line which was a good thing since the lineup for the theatre was already down the street and around the block. LOL I told him I was use to it because of Disney :rotfl:

Have a great night everyone! :wave2:

The Chicago Half Marathon was a pretty nice race! The temps were in the mid 50s which I prefer. I started out fast for me because I felt so good and covered the first 10K at a 10:18/mm pace. I thought I would maintain that for the whole race and maybe PR (even though this was supposed to be a Long Slow Run for me).

But fate had its way with me. First, I ran into a friend who was in AFIB (his heart was not beating in a normal rhythm) so I held back and walked with him for a while, until he finally shooed me away. I felt kinda bad that I left after about a mile but he was insistent (he has lived with this condition for 1.5 years now). I told him he shouldn't have even run the race, but he is a runner and stubborn that way. (Later he told me that at Mile 10, his heart rhythm went back to normal).

Anyway, after that I couldn't get back into my running rhythm and then at Mile 10, I had some hip pain. So instead of a PR, I finished in 2:33:25. The time in unofficial because their web site's result page is DOWN! Ugh!

Oh well. I had a great time though. I would definitely run this race again. My full race report is on my blog.

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Hi, everyone,

I'm up a bit too early and getting ready for my morning run.

Lynn: Feel better!

Rick: Love the medal! Any lingering hip pain today?

Vicky: TIFF sounds like fun. I'm feeling pretty good for ToT. I have a small amount of back pain now that my mileage is up but it seems manageable. I just need to remind myself to keep up the core exercises as they help the most. My back doesn't hurt if I drop my pace.

AFM: Our nephew is living with us now until he finds an apartment. As a result, our grocery bill has doubled. ;) Glad to have him though as he is a great role model for the girls and he dotes on them. Re my training: No runs since Friday as I was visiting family in the NC and Virginia mountains. Loved the cooler temps there because it is still in the 80s here. I have a six mile run this morning.

Enjoy the week!
