Still Day 3, February 15

Lunch at Captain Cook's and another SURPRISE!!!

After the Magic Kingdom got a bit crowded we said our goodbyes for the day and decided to have lunch at

IMG_4220.jpg

We were actually stunned because at 12.30pm the place was empty!! There were only two other tables taken!

We started to order our lunch at the little "kiosks" they have. It was fun trying to order that way. It's really easy to do too! So we placed our order and proceeded to the cash desk, picked up our drinks and were handed a buzzer. There were tables at the back looking out onto the grounds and that is where we sat.
A little while after we had sat down the buzzer went off and I went to pick up our lunch.

IMG_4217.jpg

We shared a Hawaiian Flatbread. Krispy base, ham, pineapple and lots of cheese. Large enough to share and really tasty!

IMG_4218.jpg

IMG_4219.jpg

Our second choice was the Aloha Pork Sandwich - pulled pork and lots of it in a really nice bun, cucumber, tomatoes and pineapple! It was messy to eat, but SOOOOOOOOOOOO good! The chips were so yummy too! They are a mix of tortilla chips, sweet potatoe chips and potato chips! We were really stuffed after that meal!

So we picked up our car and went back to the resort for some down time before we were to meet Tigerkat and her husband at the Boardwalk.

When we opened the door to our room we were puzzled. I had put the cooler we had received the day before on the floor before we had left. Now a cooler was sitting on the dresser!!! Tom and I looked at each other and mentioned that it was odd that it was back on the dresser - I even noticed and mentioned that the ribbons had changed colour. That was about the moment when we finally realized this was NOT the cooler we had received the day before - THIS WAS A NEW ONE!!

DSC_0046.jpg

Katmark and Mickynicki had sent us a cooler too! We were really stunned - and I CANNOT thank them both enough! It made us feel extra special to have such wonderful friends who we have never before met in person - but Tom and I hope that one day we will all be able to get together!

What wonderful friends you have!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao:

We love you and Tom and we too hope to meet in person one of these times. We are so glad that you enjoyed your cooler, your trip and the CSR. Love and kisses, always.

I am soooo glad you liked CC...every time we stay at the Poly we make sure to have lunch there, it is great and I was very surprised at how yummy Gasparilla Grill at the GF is!

Now you and Tom have your own coolers to tote around!

Breakfast at Kona looks fantastic. We had an ADR there for breakfast one morning, but couldn't get it together. Captain Cook's looks really great, too. Sorry we didn't make it out to the Poly the day we toured the resorts.

Your summer trip seems to be shaping up quite well!

Karin yes the Dec 09 Fairfax is the one I meant!!! I was srolling thru the menus and noticed updates ..hecked and was surprised at the awesome choices. I convinced Winkers and DJ to try it and they were equally impressed !! I had the chicken and brisket and it was delish !! The time Winkers ate there I actually opted for Pizza from Rosies just so I could ask about the fries:rotfl2: DJ had the ribs abd brisket and they both looked delish!!

Captain Cook's is another one I want to try this trip. I'm really looking foward to having so many days, (and dining plan credits,) to use this fall, and am going to try and take advantadge and try many new places this time.

Yummy looking Captain Cooks lunch :) That sandwich looks delish!

So nice that fellow Disers sent you such lovely gifts :)

Here's another vote for Cap'n Cooks! I really like the place - especially the grown up grilled cheese and their different types of 'chips'.

Your next trip is looking awesome!!!

dizneeat - Hi! I am really enjoying your trip report.:thumbsup2Thank you for posting all of the mouth drooling food pictures.:) Your trip reports always give me new ideas for the next trip. I Can't wait to read more. :goodvibes

I have GOT to try that pork sandwich at CC! It looks yummy. And I will be there in a week!!

Mmmm love flatbread and that one looks delicious-- how sweet was it? I'm not a fan of overly sweet things, but that looks very yummy!

Friends like these are a rare find! :goodvibes We are so lucky to have found YOU!! Thank you again for the cooler - it will come in VERY handy when we next go to DLRP! ;)

Subbing and drooling!!!!:goodvibes

Hi Sonya! It's nice to have you on board! :goodvibes

Wow - The food at Capt. Cook's looks really good, we need to try it!:thumbsup2

You HAVE TO try it! :thumbsup2 Such a change from the usual fare! And looking out onto the lush landscaping made for a very relaxed feel.

By the way - we are going to try our "new" coffee this weekend! Tom has dug out the coffeemaker (we use one of these normally .......

saeco_talea-ring-plus.jpg

and he had to clean the other coffee machine) and is baking a cake tomorrow so we can try out our new coffee - can't wait! And thank you again!!

I am soooo glad you liked CC...every time we stay at the Poly we make sure to have lunch there, it is great and I was very surprised at how yummy Gasparilla Grill at the GF is!

Now you and Tom have your own coolers to tote around!

Thanks for reviewing CCs - if it had not been for your reviews we would NEVER have tried it! :thumbsup2 :lmao:
So I guess I will need to put the Gasparilla Grill on the list for CS as well! So much food ........ so little time! :rotfl:

Thank you again for our cooler! What a surprise it was!! :woohoo: This was an extra special trip, with all the surprises the upgrade and our first DISmeet! :cloud9:

Breakfast at Kona looks fantastic. We had an ADR there for breakfast one morning, but couldn't get it together. Captain Cook's looks really great, too. Sorry we didn't make it out to the Poly the day we toured the resorts.

Your summer trip seems to be shaping up quite well!

I was surprised WE made it to all our breakfast ADRs! :scared1: I usually cancel them the day before because I know I can't be bothered to get up in the early hours of the morning after we come in late!
Maybe try it next time, we really liked our breakfast at Kona and lunch at CCs too!

Thanks for the :thumbsup2! I love that menu! We will definitely try it one day - there aren't many CS options (at least ones we like) at DHS anyway, so this sounds really yummy!

Captain Cook's is another one I want to try this trip. I'm really looking foward to having so many days, (and dining plan credits,) to use this fall, and am going to try and take advantadge and try many new places this time.

:thumbsup2 Please try Captain Cooks - it was such a wonderful surprise for the food on one hand and the view of the flowers outside on the other. Such a change from the yuck snow outside here!

Yummy looking Captain Cooks lunch :) That sandwich looks delish!

So nice that fellow Disers sent you such lovely gifts :)

Even though the sandwich was MESSY to eat (I used up a bunch of napkins while eating :lmao:) it was just sooooooooo good!
I guess you will try some of the food of Captain Cooks during your stay at the Poly! :thumbsup2

Here's another vote for Cap'n Cooks! I really like the place - especially the grown up grilled cheese and their different types of 'chips'.

Your next trip is looking awesome!!!

Grown up grilled cheese? I didn't see this!!! :scared1: But then we opted for the very first things that looked yummy and we didn't even care to look further! :rotfl: Now I have another reason to go back! :lmao:

dizneeat - Hi! I am really enjoying your trip report.:thumbsup2Thank you for posting all of the mouth drooling food pictures.:) Your trip reports always give me new ideas for the next trip. I Can't wait to read more. :goodvibes

Thank you for reading and all the praise! I am glad :goodvibes I can help with my dining reviews!

I have GOT to try that pork sandwich at CC! It looks yummy. And I will be there in a week!!

Oh, my gosh, you will be there in a week! Have a fun trip and try to stay clear of a certain princess ;)! She has given you enough trouble as it is!!
And go for that pork sandwich ......... it is wonderful!
I read your blog about bringing home the latest addition to your family! What a wonderful thing to do! What a lucky little girl!

Mmmm love flatbread and that one looks delicious-- how sweet was it? I'm not a fan of overly sweet things, but that looks very yummy!

You could definitely taste the sweetness of the pineapple, but it blended in well with the ham and cheese. And it was not as sweet as the Hawaiian pizza (with ham and pineapple) we get at restaurants here!
I guess you should give it a try!

Still Day 3, Feb 15

Our first DISmeet and dinner at Todd English's BlueZoo

After we had recovered from our surprise we had a little rest, then we explored a bit more of the resort before we got ready for our first DISmeet!

We arrived at the Boardwalk and hurried to find the BelleVue Lounge. When we finally found it (after two stops to ask directions, :lmao:) Kat and Johnny were already waiting. It was SO easy to talk to them both!
Since the lounge didn't open for another 30 minutes we decided to go to the ESPN club - where we had never been before!
Time just flew by, we had so much fun talking and it was wonderful to meet such nice people! We exchanged gifts :woohoo: and it was soon time to say goodbye again.
But before that we asked the barkeeper to take our photo and we had the funniest time while he ALWAYS held the camera the wrong way around and I am sure Kat now has a few nice photos of his red shirt! :rotfl2:
Well, in the end he managed to take a photo!

After we had said our goodbyes Tom and I walked over to the Swolphin

DSC_0072.jpg

for our dinner ADR at

IMG_4222.jpg

We signed in right on time and were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. We were seated at a round 4 top and the server handed us the menu, then went to explain the cocktails after we had decided against any wine.

Nicki, this is what we got - I hope this IS what YOU recommended, because it was out of this world wonderful and delish!

IMG_4224.jpg

IMG_4223.jpg

Their signature Zooberry cocktail: blueberry-infused Ketel One vodka with a splash of fresh lemon juice and rock-candy syrup! Oh my, this one was :woohoo:!!

IMG_4227.jpg

Next we got a basket of different breads, which were all VERY yummy,

IMG_4225.jpg

and this spread/butter (:confused3).

Since we had snacked all afternoon we decided to just share a starter!

IMG_4231.jpg

IMG_4228.jpg

The Yellowfin Tuna Tartare - from the "Olive's" table, twisted cucumber salad, crispy rock shrimp, orange glaze, scallion cream, which not only looked stunning, but tasted out of this world!
Gets 2 :thumbsup2 in my book! ;)

For his entree Tom had this!

IMG_4234.jpg

IMG_4236.jpg

The Dirty South Swordfish, barbeque rubbed, house smoked tasso risotto, rock shrimp and littleneck clams. Again, it looked stunning and the taste was out of this world! The fish was nice and flakey and moist, the risotto cooked to perfection and the shrimp were yummy. Can't comment on the clams, since I don't eat them, but there were none left at the end of the meal, so they must have been good! ;)

I tried the

IMG_4237.jpg

Simply Fish, their daily selection of finest fresh fish selected from coastal waters around the world, simply grilled on their teppanyaki grill, served with Warm crabmeat, dijon mustard, chives sauce and some added lobster. My choice of fish was the salmon. And it was to die for!! The portion itself was HUGE and I only managed to eat about 2/3 of it!

We also ordered an additional side.

IMG_4238.jpg

Crab Mac and Cheese. The only letdown. There was not much taste of crab and the sauce was thin and runny, not very cheesy at all and we both had a few fork fulls and that was it. I would not order it again!

Since we were stuffed after our main course we decided against dessert, but the server insisted on bringing out a treat for Tom. This trip was his birthday trip and someone had noted it on the reservation, so he got a free dessert!! :goodvibes

IMG_4241.jpg

IMG_4242.jpg

Warm Chocolate Cake - with liquid ganache center, maracaibo chocolate cream pudding, peanut ice cream. We shared it and it was really wonderful. The peanut ice cream went so well with the chocolate cake! What a nice treat it was!

After having had such a huge dinner we decided against going to DHS for EMH and instead walked around the boardwalk and stopped to take in the sights and sounds. We then went back to our resort and "collapsed" in front of the TV! ;)

Next up - breakfast at the Crystal Palace

Karin - We really enjoyed meeting y'all too! That bartender at ESPN had me cracking up in that picture and yep I've got quite a few shots of his shirt.:rotfl2:

Your meal at bluezoo looked amazing, glad y'all enjoyed it!:thumbsup2
