Hakuna Matada - Let's March!

Beth: Congrats. That'll be really exciting!

Vicky: Yeah, definitely consider it from all angles. I'm rooting for ya no matter what you choose!

I think half and the relay is a nice middle step before going Goofy. I'm kind of a 'collector/perfectionist' and the idea of having an anniversary medal *and* an inaugural medal just appeals. :rotfl: I'm trying to convice DBF to run the relay with me (probably going to let him name the team to bribe him into doing it). I'd have to start since he doesn't have a previous time.

I'm sorry to hear about your family doing that. It always bothers me when people don't just ask. I hope their daughter knew not to use it.

I've never had anything of mine ripped off but that's most cause many of my works involve nudes and people tend to not steal those! Some were of me so I'm pretty certain I'd know who took them! :rotfl:

I'm trying to get back in my pattern of:

Monday: Training
Tuesday: Run
Wednesday: Gym
Thursday: Training
Friday: Run
Saturday: Rest or Gym
Sunday: Whichever I didn't do Saturday

But I'm falling short on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I'm hoping to kick myself harder this week. I had stuff to do around the apartment this past weekend that allowed me to make excuses not to go. Got all that done so no more excuses! More weight loss, here I come!

Hi Team!

Eva- Yes, we are moving to Oregon. Everyone I have talked to so far has told me I’m going to love it on the coast so we’ll find out soon if that’s true! When is the Cleveland half?

Beth- I’m glad your not having any ITB issues. Congrats on registering for the full!!

Kim- Hi!

Lynn- Thanks! No, I haven’t signed DH up for Seattle yet. He called me on Saturday and I asked him about it. He said he would like to do it, but he’s concerned about his new work schedule and not being able to train for it. I’m so glad you guys have hot water again!! Sounds like you’re busy over there. I’m glad you had nice weather today. Could you send that nice weather our way please? :)

Vicky- I’m not sure if they allow bib transfers or not. It’s been awhile since I looked into it and I can’t remember what it said. No offers on the house yet, but hopefully sooner rather than later. So what did the trainer do to exercise your ankle? I’m glad you liked him. That is very sad about your friend. I’m glad the party was mostly fun though. Some day I would love to do the Goofy. Which are you leaning toward right now?

Saylan- Yes, I hope to go there another year. But I’m still definitely planning on the 2012 WDW weekend so if you’re going to that maybe we’ll get to catch up there. :thumbsup2 I hope your DBF is able to get in. I’ll think positive thoughts for you both. I hope your aunt doesn’t try to print his picture herself either. LOL, it sounds like you taught DBF well! I don’t blame you for being concerned for your safety while running. I have the same concerns, which is why I choose to run while it is light out if I’m running by myself and in more populated areas. Just try to stay aware of your surroundings and maybe change up your running paths so you're not going to the same place each time.

Dave- I’m glad you slept better last night.

AFM, Friday is my last day at work. Scary!!!! DH also comes home on Friday and then we move the following week. I ran yesterday but took today as a rest day. I’m still running, but my left shin is still giving me some issues. This last week, it seemed to do ok while I was running, but it still doesn’t quite feel 100% if that makes sense. It’s not a constant pain either- it comes and goes (whether I'm walking or running) and it’s not an excruciating pain either-I guess maybe more like a dull pain. I’m not quite sure what to do about it. I don’t want to stop running, but I’m wondering if I do completely stop if it will help? And then there’s the Seattle half. I really really want to sign up for it, but if I have to stop running I won’t be trained for it in June. Do you guys think I would be ok to sign up for the half?

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Hello team!

Finally finding time to catch up and post. We got back from Michigan last week, but have been really busy with work and errands.

Elizabeth and Saylan - Congrats on finishing the Princess!

Lynn - I share your furstration with the plumber. We had a leaking faucet (nothing bad) and no hot water in one of our bathroom sinks. It took forever for the apartment manager to send a plumber. The plumber came once but couldn't fix it becuase he didn't have the right wrench. He came back while we were on vacation and fixed the problems, but he reversed the hot and cold water on one of the sinks. So, now I just have to remember to the faucet the other way. Glad your hot water is back. WTG on your weight loss!

Dave - Congrats to Sally on her new job! Hope you are feeling better.

Saylan - I also missed the sign up for the DL half, I hadn't been paying attention to the website and when I finally checked it was almost full. I hesitated to sign up and then the next morning it was closed. DH and I are on the waitlist too. I hope your DBF gets a spot!

Regina - Hope your move goes well and your house sells soon! I've never been to Oregon but have also heard that it is very nice.

Beth - That's great your injury is nothing too serious. WTG on you run!

AFM - We had a good trip to Michigan. There was a lot of snow and it was pretty cold. My friend's wedding was really nice. I enjoyed getting to see my college friends.

I was able to get in a few workouts on vacation and went to the gym with my younger sister. I've only ran twice since we've been back. We finally tried out our bikes last weekend. We did a 3 mile ride and it went pretty well. It's been a long time since I rode a bike.

We missed signing up for the DL half :sad1: so we're on the wait list. Our backup is the LA rock n roll half if we don't get into DL. The LA race is Oct 30 but DH thinks this would be too close to the WDW Jan half.

We're also trying to decide which WDW race we want to do next year. The Jan half or the Princess half. I don't know which to pick, I think I'm leaning towards Jan. It's the main running event at WDW, there's a anniversary medal for the half, and it's near our wedding anniversary. DH is a no go on the marathon and the Goofy (but that's ok with me). I'm trying to convince him that we should do the half and the relay but he's resisting that idea too. He doesn't think 26 miles in a weekend, either in one day or split over two, is possible.

Pixie dust for those who need it!

Have a good night!
Emily

Emily ~ Just to put the timeline in perspective for your DH, my training plan for the WDW Half didn't even start until mid-October, so the timing would be just about perfect actually. :D

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Half marathon followed by a full scary - that is why they call it the “Goofy”! Sure, add my weight loss to the list! I have not done the Goofy but Scott has, but he never did a regular training program, so don’t go by him.

Saylan - The one time I sold my bib, I picked it up and then handed it over, (that was the 1/2 right after I had knee surgery, but I was still there to chear), you can pick up someone elses bib if you have a photo copy of their drivers license and a letter from them asking you to pick it up - we have also done that for folks who were going to be coming in late to a race. I have always walked with my dogs, and therefore had no safety concerns.
Beth - Good luck with your training for the Full!

Dave - How did Sally’s first day of work go?

Emily - Hope your waitlist for the half comes thru! I also think 2 months is a good amount of training time, especially when you go into that training already trained from the previous race!

Regina - More nice weather here, so if you are east of us, you should get it (eventually). Once you move to Oregon, you will be sending weather to the rest of us!

AFM - I did get exercise in yesterday, out for short walk with dogs, 30 min of Pilates, weights and 30 min on spin bike. Today is the warmest day of the week - high of 64 - but windy, so I am thinking of longer (3 mile) walk with the dogs, if I can get out before wind really picks up (we are under high wind warning this afternoon - that means wind gusts up to 60 mph).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi, everyone,

Dave: congrats to Sally!

Lyn: Reading about your cleaning and organizing is making me feel anxious to get back to mine. I get distracted from those tasks quite easily.

Beth: Congrats on your decision to do the full!

Regina: Good luck with the moving!

Emily: I was planning to do the Princess half again until I read everyone's posts about the January half. Now I'm not sure which one I'll end up doing either.

Vicky: How is the push up challenge going for you?

ASM: I'm a bit lazy this week and I've blamed it on the time change. No excuses tomorrow; I plan to hit the pavement at 6!

Regina - The Cleveland half is the weekend of the 15th...Sunday I think. I keep putting off registering, because we are still living out of suitcases at my parents house. I keep telling myself once we get moved back in I'll register.

Team - I think I am going Goofy. I don't plan to run the whole thing...just hoping to finish and not be severly injured or swept. Jordan says he is not ready for another baby this year...so we will try next year. Until then it's Goofy time! :goofy:

.....I think.....maybe.....

Dang Eva you are hard core!

Dave:hippie:

finally felt good enough to go for a training walk with my race walk team. Did a brisk 5 miles at a good but comfortable pace.

Dave:hippie:

Yay Dave!!!! :cool1:

I had PT again today. My therapist said "I thought you'd be a quick fix!" and said I looked good. He gave me one more balance exercise today. I go back on Friday, and I guess we'll see from there. Can I just say this? If I thought the foam roller hurt the IT band, it's NOTHING compared to the massaging he was doing. It took all I had not to cry. But ultimately it's doing good for me, so woo!

I have my bib number for the NYC Half - 14757. Last corral - what fun. I'm already plotting my strategy...get to the front as much as I can, and IF they collapse the corrals rather than each getting its own send-off (I've seen no indication this is what they'll do as there is only one start time for the commoners listed), wiggle my way even further forward. If anyone's interested in tracking me, registration for email or text (text is US numbers only) opens at midnight tonight. The info is about midway down the page here.

Hope all are well!!

~beth

Good Morning Team! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Eva - Good for you on the Goofy!

Beth - Good to hear your PT feels you are doing better!

Dave - Glad to hear that you are finally feeling better!

Elizabeth - Don’t get me wrong, I really am not into cleaning, just figured that if I had to remove all that breakable stuff from the hutch to move it, I might as well wash them also. Cleaning is a chore for me, and, like weight training, I have to force myself to do it!

AFM - It was a beautiful day yesterday, got out early before wind really picked up for a 3 mile walk with the dogs, then did another Pilates tape and spent an hour on the spin bike (by that time wind was too much for outside bike riding! Windy again today, and we are expecting snow tonight. Gotta love spring!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck Beth & Mike :thumbsup2 Burn some asphalt! For anyone that wants to track Beth on Sunday, her bib number is 14757 and you register here.

March
20 - NYC Half Marathon - Beth
20 - March Madness Half Marathon Cary, IL - Mike

Thanks Vicky!!

So far only the text tracking seems to be register-able - and looks like it's only US numbers. Hopefully email tracking will be up soon to register. So far it doesn't look like it is.

I'm seriously considering running the January half in 2012. For those of you who have done that race and stayed at a value, do you think one of the All-Stars would be a good choice? I'll be getting up for the race on my own and my DH and kids will meet up with me at the finish line. Just trying to think through what would work best for all of us. I'll take the bus and they'll drive the car.

They also want to do the fun run the day before so I need to consider any traffic issues for that. I had no trouble with transportation for the 2011 Princess and we stayed at Sports. I want to repeat that for this event.

Thanks for any advice!

I just saw the map. I thought this course started in MK and finished at EPCOT, instead of starting and finishing at EPCOT. I'll take my chances with one of the All-Stars or POP. One other question, though. Do all WDW resorts provide race transportation for this half?

Beth: Happy running on Sunday!

Elizabeth ~ Marathon Weekend ALL hotels are host hotels, so yes, if it's a Disney Resort, there is transportation. And thanks!!

For those of you international who want to track, email registration is up ~ here.
:goodvibes

Just a quick post to say... hi!

I'm off to my last Zumba class.

Beth - Good luck at your race this weekend!

Hope everyone had a good day,
Emily

Good Morning Team!

Beth - have a great race on Sunday!!!!

Emily - hope you had a great Zumba class!

AFM - Too windy to walk yesterday - 30-45 mph wind is just too hard to walk against! I did get in a bit of Pilates and weights. We did not get the 3-6 inches of snow we were supposed to get last night, just a dusting, cool today with high of 38 but supposed to be 60 by tomorrow and the first day of Spring (or Spring Equinox) so hopefully we will get some bike rides in.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all! And great races to anyone else who is racing this weekend!

Hi team!

TGIF! I don't know about everyone else but I definitely feel more tired this week. I'm thinking it's the DS but who would have thought an hour would make such a difference. That's just my guess anyway... So I hear that somebody on our team is going Goofy in 2012 (not me, not yet) :upsidedow :rolleyes1

Lynn - You guys get a lot of wind where you are! Several weeks ago, we had wind like that and it was nearly impossible to walk outside. Not to mention that the wind made it even colder than it really was! Good job on the workouts! How's your training coming along for the bike ride?

Emily - Hope the zumba class was fun! The LA RnR race sounds like a nice substitute for the DL.

Beth - I'll sign up for tracking once I'm done posting! Good luck on Sunday!! :cheer2:

Elizabeth - I haven't stayed at the All Star resorts before but have heard good things about them. Just make sure DH leaves extra time to travel because of the road closures. I'm having a hard time moving past 50 push-ups. I keep going back to week 4. It's a little bit discouraging. I'm going to ask my trainer if there's something I can do to get past it. Though I suspect it's a little like running fast, you just have to do it a couple of times and then it gets easier. How's the challenge going for you?

Dave - Glad you're feeling better! How's Sally liking her new job?

Saylan - Thanks for the vote of confidence! I like the unique medals too - that's another reason I want to do the Goofy so I can get the Donald medal as well. Any luck finding a running buddy for the relay? Your workout schedule is almost like mine - I go to the gym on Monday and Thursdays too :)

Regina - Ice after you run and use compression socks. To prevent the pain (temporarily), you might also want to run your intervals a bit slower than usual. See if that helps. If you want to take a few days to a week off to rest, it shouldn't be a problem. Most 1/2 training plans are 8 weeks so if your race is in June, you still have plenty of time. Remember what Kim says - better to be undertrained and uninjured than injured with all your miles :)

Are you excited that DH is coming back today? Do you have a celebration something planned for him? You must be all packed by now!

Mike - I'm sooo sorry I missed you from the list of weekend racers. Good luck this weekend! How's your training been going? I know you've had to work a lot of hours lately.

AFM - I ran again on Wednesday for about 25 minutes on the TM. I did intervals of 5/1 and felt pretty good. I'm slowly working my way back up to 10/1, 3 miles continuous and then hopefully back up to 8 miles. One of these days I'll be able to run a half continuous :cutie:

I felt good enough afterward that I decided to do 20 minutes on the bike. Well I was nearly done and my left calf felt funny, kinda ticklish but I figured I was almost done so I ignored it but I did slow down. It went away so I kept going. I checked the clock and it was about 2 minutes and my calf felt like a cramp was coming on. But I figure I'll just finish - what's 2 minutes? Well, I probably should have stopped because I got a massive cramp/spasm. Thank goodness no one else was in the gym because it was really embarassing! It feels better now but take it as a lesson from me, if you feel a cramp coming on, it's better to stop and stretch or something  I went home and applied a heat pack and that seemed to work.

The calf is feeling better so I'm going to see if I can get out on the road Saturday for a 5K. The weather seems warmer and there isn't much snow/ice left on the road.

Anyone have plans for the weekend? I'm going to see the Tim Burton exhibit on Sunday and have brunch! I'm also going to try making red velvet whoopie pies. I'm going to have one or two and give the rest to my family and friends.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:
