HAIRSTYLISTS-a question from a straight-haired girl.

I have stubbornly straight, full hair. I have layers cut into it to give it shape but it's so straight, the impact is minimal. In general, I'm satisfied but occasionally would like to walk around with waves.

I don't want anything chemically permanent-my question is, is there a product-a cream, wax on dry hair etc.-that works with the heat of curling irons to "set" the waves? Years ago, I remember, such products were being released commercially but I didn't think they were that great then. Anything new out there that you'd recommend?

Oh-I'm not the sleep in curlers/walk around in curlers type-I'd ideally like to curl and go...even if that means it "relaxes" a little later on.

Any other thoughts appreciated. Thank you.

At the salon when we do a wedding "do" or prom ect.. and want curl to stay we use Sebatians Laminates hairspray. Comb the hair spray with the spray then curl it will add alot of shine also!!

If you're still there-or anyone-I feel totally frivolous for asking-but what kind of curling iron do you use? I ask bc, I remember these 1/2" or 3/4" diameter curling wands-do they come any wider? My hair is shoulder length but slowly growing and would like to control the tightness of the curl.

The irons we use at the salon are professional irons and are unneccesary for daily home use. (We need them to be on all day and get really hot really fast it is also a marcil type iron aswell)
At home I have allways bought cheap irons from target!!

I also have stubbornly straight hair. For the last couple of years, I've been getting my hair cut shoulder length with layers. After washing, I put lots of gel in my hair then blow dry with a round brush. This gives my hair lots of body. After drying, I do a little touch up with the curling iron. Then I top it off with Freeze It hair spray. My hair keeps its body and curls all day.
