haircuts on mainstreet

It is first come first serve. We are trimming my dd3 hair next week when we go!! It is her first haircut. It is almost down to her bottom but I will sacrifice a couple inches for the first haircut celebration!

I thought of trying to go in during a parade time since most people will be watching the parade!

If a haircut is important to you, GO EARLY. We had DD#1 get her first haorcut there in Nov.2000. Well, we wanted DD#2 to ger her first haircut there last December. The Barber Shop had just been written up in the Disney Magazine and the place always had a line out the door!

For a first haircut they make a big deal, you get ears that say first haircut and a certificate (which we framed). They can put color in your hair and pixie dust. They make it fun for the kids.

My boys (8 & 4) oh and 36 (DH), never miss getting their hair cut at the barber shop. They DS 8 only likes to get pixie dust in hair when done but DS 4 likes the hair paint. If I remember correctly, I believe the price was $12 each. l

Our 3yo DD wants a haircut!! I've never had her hair cut. She never had hair until she was one so now I've just let it grow and grow!! But I only want it slightly trimmed. I'll probably cry when its cut.:( But I guess the ends could use the trim and I figure where else would be better to get your first haircut than at WDW!!! So we hope not to encounter to many people in line and I hope they really understand that I only want a fraction of her hair trimmed!!!!!! I know DD will just love the first cut Mickey ears and I hear they give the little ones stickers too. :teeth:

We went last week and got my 2 dd's hair trimmed. They're 5 and 7 and both of them have long straight hair. While we waited, we saw 2 young boys, a grandpa and a young adult man getting their hair cut. They gooped up the hair with the color stuff, spiked it up, tossed the "pixie dust" on it and colored in a Mickey face on the back. My girls did not want the color - and I don't blame them. It was very wet and messy. They got their hair trimmed and then braided into a french braid w/ pixie dust on it. It looked very nice, but when I combed their hair out the next day, I realized it was cut very unevenly. I would have taken them back and complained, but we just never had the opportunity to go back there. They never showed me the cut before styling it, but I was just assuming they would do a great job.

My DS 3yrs got his haircut last April. We went right before the shop closed and did not have much of a wait. I think it was his best haircut. Even when we got back, friends commented on his great cut and asked where I'd had it done. My DDs did not need cuts, but the barbers very nicely (for free) put color and pixie dust in their hair too. When we go in Jan, we will be going back to the barbershop. I believe it was about $12. I think it is the most normally priced thing in all of WDW!!

I got my 2 year old dd's hair cut there last Tuesday. We were the 1st into the park and ran right over there. There were 2 cm's waiting for haircuts so when they opened they went 1st and then Julia so not a long wait at all. This was the best cut Julia has ever gotten!!! She put her in the chair and proceeded to put stickers ALL over her, there was not one empty spot on her without stickers...lol. When done, they put pixie dust on her. The price was a well worth it $12. :-)

that is one of my husband's "traditions" and in Dec and Jan he has only had a short wait, no more than10 mins. so it probably depends when you are going

We did this just last week! My son is almost four, and we wanted to do something special for him as his sister celebrated her birthday while we were there. The haircut itself was excellent, and he played with a Mickey light chaser while she cut...also one on hand for little sis to play with. When she asked if he wanted blue or green hair color, he said both! So, she put green on one side, blue on the other, and drew Mickey ears in the back! Do you want some pixie dust? (Need you ask?) She also tossed some in little one's hair too.

A great experience! Excellent pricing! Great interaction!

We went around 2:30 when we needed a break from the heat. We sat in air conditioning for about 20 minutes while waiting (and shared a snack too! :) ) When we left we felt very refreshed and commented on what a great choice it was to do this for DS. All the rest of the day, he got all kinds of special attention because of his hair. People in line would comment, CMs would make a big fuss over him, our guide on Jungle Cruise made the whole boat admire his "cool cut" ("oooohhh aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!") DS LOVED it! For $12 I would do this every time.

Hair color was "wet and messy" going on....but dried in just a few minutes and stayed nice all day (even though he constantly checked to make sure his hair was "still spikey" ) We did have to wash his hair twice that night to get it out, but he thought the green bath water was just an added bonus!

We just have to do this for my DS7 (8 on our trip) and DS9!! :earsboy: :earsboy:

Where is the shop on Main Street?

I can see the scrapbook page already :hyper:

It's just around the corner from the Emporium. Back near the exit of the parade route. Just look for the barber shop striped pole....:)

We took some great pics and the ever present camcorder was filming too. He really likes to talk about his cool "Mickey hair"

my husband is jealous...he never got pixie dust or colored hair. there's slways this year:sunny:
