Hi -
My dd7 has mentioned that she might like to have her hair trimmed (bangs and ends of shoulder length hair) and the MK Barber Shop . Do I need to make an appointment for her ? Would a little girl feel like it's a "man's haircut store" ... I've never been inside to see it ? Any idea on the cost of a haircut like this ?

Thanks all !

;) Cindy

My daughter had her hair trimmed there when she was 9. I looks like a traditional 1900's barber shop, but it's a unisex establishment. No appointments are taken... it's first come, first served. I seem to recall haircuts where $15 and they're open until 5 PM.

My daughter and her friend were 9 this past December when they had their haircut at the barber shop. After they trimmed everything up, their bangs were put back with micky clips and they had paint put in their hair and pixie dust was sprinkled on top. I had it done also and I am in my 30's. We had such a good time all day with everyone looking at us and wondering what we did! My daughter had pink, her friend had orange, and I had tinkerbell green. It was cool!

My 4 yr old DD had hers done with 2 of her brothers last Nov. She LOVED it. She just had her bangs trimmed...but they put in pixie dust & pink hair "paint"...it washed out very easy about 3 days later when she let me HA HA...they met Peter PAn & Wendy the day they had it done & both characters commented on how much Pixie dust the hairdressers had used. Peter was worried that there would be enough to get Wendy back to Neverland!!

Get in line right when the MK opens...only 3 chairs in the shop...but LOTS of fun!

Does anyone have a guess as to how young a child they will cut? I am looking forward to having my haircut with my son who will be almost 9 months at the time. This would be his first haircut -- so why not at Disney?

Also, I didn't know about the coloring. Maybe I'll do that. Does that cost extra?

Thanks!
Gregg

Gregg -

Definitely take your son. They do some special things (which I won't give away) when it is "Baby's First Haircut"!

Thanks, Michelemouse! I'm actually looking forward to that more than anything! See, I have 3 daughters (who I love) but I finally got my son!

I won't subject him to the hair color thing, but I may do it. My girls would get a kick out of it!

I plan on getting my DS's hair done this July. He will be 5 months. They will only be able to clip a little in the back but it will be a great memory. DD had hers done last year and the pictures are wonderful. The Dapper Dans were there and put her in the chair and sang to her before the barber got to her.

Thanks for the info .... we will definately be doing this ! My dd will love the hair paint and pixie dust ... I'll keep that a secret to add to the fun!

We're planning to hit MK on Sun and Thurs AM for early entry since I'm anticipating crowds for our trip (June 21 - 28). I'm guessing the Barber Shop will not be open during the EE hour...can anyone confirm this ? If so, I think we'll hit a few rides then head over to the Barber Shop when the park officially opens at 9AM.

You'll love it! We took our 7 m. old dd for her 1st trim, and it was great! I agree with everyone else about getting there early... ;)
