What do you do with those not quite long enough to be put in a pony tail strands? Half of my hair is long enough and the rest is just long enough to be in my face and driving me nuts. Any advice?

I can't stand the wisps either and just bought a bunch of, basically, giant elastic bands to hold them back. Let me see if I can find a picture....

No luck yet, but I found the name "Goody Stay Put Headband" and it has this stuff on the back to keep it in place. Love it!

a headband type thing looks cool. Cant do clips or bobby pins, cause 1) I have thin wispy hair 2) I work with babies.

If you can pull off different hair designs, after washing hair while still wet, add mousse to where you want the hair, comb, add gel, push down with your hands, then put hairspray on it. Whisps will be eliminated and you may be able to find a new hair design you like, google teenage/young adult hair designs, and look at pictures. Have fun.

I have thin wispy hair too, but I have tons of it so it fakes being thick really well. I just let mine fall free, unless I need it back and in those cases I use the clip style barrette in a color that matches my hair.

DD uses these. Now she has really thick hair but lots of wisps; these head bands make it through a 3-hour gymnastics practice with barely a need for adjustment. Dsis wears them when she runs too

Another idea... can you pull off braids or some kind of hair twists? You can do what a PP said and mousse/spray and then put it up. I use Ion spray from Sally's beauty on DD's hair for her gymnastics meets - spray, comb, pull into an elastic, spray again, repeat with next section.
