I don't know if this is in the category or not, I thought since it was done at the resorts this would be OK.

I'm wondering if anyone could give me information....price, procedure, etc.

We were talking to a woman at church yesterday and my daughter mentioned that she wanted to have this done, I told her I'd look into it and see. Well, this woman scared me! She goes on to tell us that she has known girls whose hair gets wrapped so tightly they end up with a bald spot! Now, I've never heard this and know that if that were the case they wouldn't be in business, but what is the procedure like? How long does it last and what's the cost? Is it done in large sections of hair or just one braid?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I don't know the price, but: in most cases, they just wrap, they don't braid (you'd need to visit one of the hair salons for that) and they only braid a few strands!!!!! At the very worst (unless the wrap-ee actually pulled out the strands to get rid of the wrap) you can just cut the hair - no bald spot!

My daughter got a hair wrap a couple of years ago. They take a small section of hair (my daughter's was about a 1/2 in wide) and, literally, just wrap several pieces of colored strands of heavy thread/yarn around and around the strands of hair. They tie is off someway and added a bead to the end of the strands. My daughter left her's in for about 2 weeks. My husband crushed the bead with a pair of pliers and then I just unwrapped the yarn. No bald spots.

I am not sure what the cost was. I have seen several hair wrap stations throughout WDW. I don't know about the other resorts but I do know that they have a hair wrap station at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

Hope this helps, Lisa

My daughter had a hair wrap done in DTD in February. The cost was $1.50 per inch plus the cost of beads. She was able to choose 4 colors of string for the wrap. The CM who did the wrap took only a very little section of hair to wrap. I believe you can also get hair wraps done at several of the resorts -I've seen them at POP and ASMo. They suggest you can leave the wrap in for 6 weeks. I know of girls who have kept them longer. My daughter's has been in just over 6 weeks and she has no desire to take it out. I don't know of any problems with leaving them in longer. I guess we'll see.

If you're concerned about hair damage, you may want to consider the clip-ons they sell.

My niece isn't allowed to wear hair wraps at her school so we purchased the clip on wrap that they sell at the hair wrapping station. We purchased hers in Animal Kingdom right outside the Merchantile shop. They are $15 each or 2/$25. They have some already made up or will make them up with your color choices. When they are clipped in, you can't tell that they are clip-in. She shows you how to put them in so it looks real. They looked really cute in her hair.

The hair wrapping station is by the pool at the POP.

Hi

Our DD's (9 and 5) have gotten hair wraps each of the last few years at Disney and have not had any issues once they eventually take them out. We have gotten them at the Dolphin pool, next to SAB and the Boardwalk .... Hope this helps!!

I have seen a cart at POFQ in front of the gift shop. I know it was there the past 2 years I went.

Thank you, thank you for this information!!

We are staying at CBR and I knew there was a hair wrapping station there, so we just might be able to do this! And the idea of a clip-on sounds intriguing, we might look into that too.

Thanks again everyone!!

I have seen where it is put in so tight that it causes the hair to break off. The best way to hide that is to have them put the wrap in under your hair at the base of your scalp. This is where I have had my daughters put in at.

I've had mine done a bunch of times, at Disney and in VA Beach, Myrtle Beach and other beach destinations. I've never had a problem with them wrapping it so tightly that it broke my hair or anything. They just wrap a small, maybe 1/2 inch, section of hair from roots to almost the end with colored string like embroidery floss and secure it with a bead. When you want to take it out, you an just crack the bead or carefully cut the string above the bead, and unwrap it.

My daughter's had 3 or 4 hairwraps - all but one done at CBR. The first one only lasted about 2 weeks because she had fallen asleep and when she woke up the hairwrap was under her arm and when she sat up she put her weight on her elbow to pull herself up and she pulled the hairwrap right out of her head. She did have a little bald spot, but luckily the hairwrap was under her hair by her ear.

When she got her next hairwrap, we would always put her hair in a ponytail when she slept and never had a problem. Her other hairwraps lasted several months - some at least 6 months. By then it had grown out several inches so I just cut them out and there was just a little shorter piece of hair that never even showed.
