I am on iv steriods yes am at home. Love my port. Well they make your head all sweaty no matter what you do and you have to live with it. Currently i keep my hair in ponytail at all times but the steriods and other meds are making it fall out and its giving me headache keeping it up all the time. I was wanting to buy some beanies thin ones since i am hot all the time from steriods. I was thinking the crocheted beanie. Problem is i can't find many online to order since i can't go out. Any other ideas whould be welcome too my hair is past my shoulders. I hate how thin it is now,

I am not sure where you could find them but just wanted to send you a big hug.

I'm only on oral steroids and the hair loss and hot flashes are horrible. I can't imagine how much worse an IV dose would be.

I hope you find something to help soon.

I don't know if this would be an interim aid but have you tried just a plain old hairnet? At least just for sleeping to keep you comfy and also not damage your hair further?

Best of luck to you and I hope you are feeling better soon.

I have such a love hate relationship with steroids.

I am on inhaled steroids and have noticed that I am sweating like nobody's business! Is that really a side effect?

www.etsy.com If you cant find it there ask and someone will make you one. I have a crocheted beanie and I love it. Dosent mess with my thin hair either.

The heat will be trapped on your scalp and not vent.
I would go with wetting a brush and pulling into a pony tail. Let the pieces fall at least you are cool.
To dress it up, Rite Aide, Kmart and the hair supply, brain fog what is it called, have thin tossy hair piece that are really simple and stylish. You will not feel like a skinny tail hanging with a mini add on.
I would keep a spray water bottle around too to mist. When the body is trying to cool it sweats, maybe it would help to spray often.
feel better soon,
di

I take steroids too (not sure if we take the same type - corticosteroids.. I take decadron and used to be on prednisone), and haven't had that problem but I did lose more than half my hair. I would recommend bandanas instead because they are cotton and would be more absorbant. Walmart usually has a large variety with many patterns for $1 each and they are easy to wash.

It will make you feel better to get your hair cut. The length weighs it down and possibly makes it look worse than it is. When it's cut, it will look fuller, especially if you have some long layers cut into it.

I would also sprinkle corn starch on your head and then brush your hair really good, it's very absorbant and won't cake up like other products and is inexpensive.

So sorry you are having to deal with this on top of whatever illness you have. I'm glad to hear you love your port! I was going to get one to do IVIG therapy several years ago, I can see what a difference it makes for those who have one.

i do ivig in my also. I also do zummeria.

I totally feel for what you are going through! I hope that you go in remission soon (am assuming its autoimmune disease). I had to quit IVIG, I got aseptic meningitis from it.

Hope you find something that helps, please try the corn starch at least once, you might be surprised at how much it helps, not that messy either.
