Hair question!

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone here is really into doing hair or will possibly have an answer for me!

My boyfriend's senior prom is a week from tomorrow. Problem is my hair :(
It's just about shoulder-length, and pretty thick.

I have decided that I'm going to try and curl it with a flat iron (there's about a million tutorials on youtube). My question is, has anyone done this? And if you have, what kind of hair do you have?

Naturally, my hair is kinda wavy. All the girls in these videos start out with really straight hair. I'm not sure if the curls will look right if I start with my natural waves, but then again, straightening my whole head only to go back and curl all of it seems kind of dumb too.

Anyone have any advice for me? Thank you so much, I am completely clueless when it comes to hair/styling

No, sorry. I always wanted to try it, but then my hair grew back curly so all I have to do is wash and go.

Maybe you can start off by using some curl-enhancing shampoos and conditioners? I've heard thst Bed Head works really well.

I've done it many times, I have straight hair though, so I don't know what it would be like with wavy hair.
Make sure you try it out a few times before your prom.

Use moose to hold your curls, and use a heat serum before you curl it to protect your hair from damaging.

I do,

I have thick, super curly, hair.. thats just about under my bra line.

All I do, is take a shower, blow dry it, and then curl it in layers. I don't know how those tutorials show you how too, but what I do is just put the straightener at the top and twirl it all the way down to the bottom. I know I suck at giving directions..

I'm going out tomorrow night, and that's how I was gonna do my hair.
If you want I'll take a picture to show you how mine turns out,
if you want an idea on how it's gonna look.

Thank you - I'm definitely going to try it tomorrow to see what I come up with!

Yeah, that's pretty much what the tutorial showed. I'm gonna try to do it on my own, but my mom will be here too so I'll probably ask her to do the back pieces.
