Have any of you ever gotten your hair done while on holiday in Fla?
Did you get it styled for a special occasion or cut and how did you choose a salon if so?

........ I haven't Jana as I like going to "my own" hairdresser - I like to stick with the tried and tested! I have tried other hairdressers out and if I'm pleased with the outcome I switch to them and they become "my hairdresser" but I've stuck with the same hairdresser for a few years now.

I couldn't possibly bring myself to try out a 'new' hairdresser on holiday!

I have to make sure I get it cut just before I go away, so that I know it'll be how I want it for the next few weeks and I won't have to think about it again until I get home.

Hi Jana
I'm with Hilary on this one. Couldn't possibly trust a new hairdresser! I'm so fussy about my hair, its my one weakness and I'd hate it if I got it done and it turned out bad!! I always have it cut etc just before I go away.

My uk hairdresser trained one of many one of which went to orlando and set up. So yes I've had my hair done by him

Those of you that wouldn't get it cut while on holiday what about a special occassion? like a wedding, anniversary celebration night out or just a special night out. Would you go to some one in Fla for that?

I love going to the hairdressers, but changing hairdresser is really nerve-wracking. I changed to a new one about 6 months ago having gone to the same one for about 8 years. For the first few appointments I really felt as though I didn't belong. Also, they did in-depth consultations before touching my hair, which is good in itself, but they spoke to me as though I'd never been to a hairdresser before! Everything's fine now that they've all got to know me, I feel much more comfortable.

Having said all that, I think it would be quite fun to have my hair done on holiday, although I'm not sure that I would want to waste valuable vacation time in the hairdressers. I would definitely consider having it done for a special event. Hilary's Silver Wedding Anniversary party, for example! Is the joke wearing a bit thin now, Hil? I wonder how much longer I can milk it?

Jana, I still wouldn't use an unfamiliar hairdresser, but that's because once my hair is cut it doesn't need any special attention (okay, make that "doesn't need any attention at all" - anyone who has met me can verify that!) other than a bit of wax. However, if it was in need of styling, then I guess it would be fun to try somewhere new - a bit like getting the cotton braids put in on vacation.

Deb, I already have you down to help with the seating plans and table decorations, so don't try pretending you were only joking ;).
Do you think I should grow my hair for the anniversary?

I get mine cut before I go away, then I'm lucky if it get's a brush while I'm out there- I don't do glamourous on holiday!

However, I have had my hair done (not cut) away from home a few times, most recently for my brother's wedding, but also for dinner dances at conferences I've been too - results have been mixed - at my brothers wedding I had huge hair when I came out of the salon - not me at all, but since I was wearing a big hat, I didn't worry too much, just shoved the hat over it and wondered why I'd bothered!

......... I think I'd still want a recommendation and a discussion with the stylist even for a special occasion.

I was very brave and had highlights done the last time we were out. Took alot longer than at home but a fraction of the price - $70 to £110, and I am very pleased with the result. Will certainly go back again.

Used the hairdresser at the Orange Lakes Shopping Plaza - next to the Publix.

Ooo Jana I would definately like to have a blow-dry. Wouldn't have it cut - however if colouring was cheaper then here in the UK I'd probably go for it. But I think it would be nice to have my hair blow dried jsut before say going to California Grill - Hmmmm I think I might enquire at Y&B about this service.

The only other problem is when do we all get the time to have our hair done on holiday it might deviate fromour regimented (;) ) schedules LOL! I think I'd make the time.

So are you gonna check it out whilst you're out there Jana ?

Yes I will be checking out some salon's while I'm down there. I won't be getting it cut as I do that myself. I'm extremely picky about my hair. There are only 2 people I trust to cut it, myself and one of my stylists and I watch her VERY closely the whole time she does it.

Just do what I am going to do, get it all shaved off before I go. (Should I mention that I am male.:D )

I ALWAYS get my hair cut when I go away, but it does help to be dating someone who owns part of a hair salon LOL :) .

I do try to get DD Sam to time her high lights for when we meet up with Jana as it is REALLY expensive to get done locally.
