Hair Color-WWYD?/Vent

At home shampoo with a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner to maintain proper moisture in hair. Your hair is made of protein called Keratin, you can use a protein spray after you shampoo/condition and towel dry your hair. Just lightly spray it on your hair, comb thru and leave it in. Protein spray will help strengthen and protect your hair. Especially good in summer months with sun exposure. Many product lines, even inexpensive ones like Aussie have protein spray."

I have found a salon that does what's called a Keratin treatment to your hair... this may be exactly what I need. If I decide to switch, maybe I'll try that also, if it's suggested (and after a little more research)!

Most of the time when a salon advertises keratin these days they are speaking about the straightening process that is popular.

I've highlighted my hair for the last 27 years. I highlight it every 8 weeks and cut every 4. I never have her bring the product to my ends so that my ends do not get overprocessed.
Every few months I run Redken's Shades EQ through all of my hair all over to tone blonde if it starts looking too light to me. I use something light like 09G and mix it with a bit darker or warmer and run through all over for no more than 15-20 mins. Works great for me. :)

Good luck.

... this was n ot happening before right? Since then something has changed, and it's probably the healthyness of your hair. If you are getting highlights and lowlights often your hair is probably very porus, the color slips right in and then slips right out. There is nothing that will help that .. sadly .. you need to improve the health of your hair and that's all there is too it. You need to get protien treatments and moitrizing for after (treatments, not just conditioner) how do you treat your hair now, what kind of shampoo and conditioner are you using? do you blow dry or straighten your hair on a regular basis?
stylists really need to start communicating to their clients that we do 50% of the job in the salon but you have to be willing to put in the other 50% to maintain it.
and honestly if i was charging 55 dollars for highlights, low lights and a cut ..

I have been coloring my hair for a looong time (I was a ntural blonde as child/teen. I din't like losing that in my 20's). I really think your problem here is at least partially due to over coloring. Hi lights and lologhts every sizx weeks is a LOT of processing. My stylist does hilights about every 3 months in most cases. If they are woven properly they will grow out looking pretty natural. Hair that is processed every 6 weeks long term is goingto end up damaged. The longer you keep your hair, the more that damage will show. Have you perhaps been letting it grow out?

I have been a stylist for 26 years. At this point it sounds to me that you need color correction. Not all stylists are comfortable or knowledgeable in this. The hair could be overprocessed and too porous. It needs to be filled to put some underlying pigment back into it. Just ask her about it and if she seems hesitant, ask her if one of her co workers can help. That way she will learn and you don't have to leave her. You should not be needing a full hi/low every 6 weeks. You can have the regrowth done with the base color just to save your hair from over lightening. Stick with professional products geared towards colored hair. They really do make a difference. And try not to shampoo everyday and don't use really hot water.
