I was just informed that they do hair braiding at the GF pool area.

Is it actual braides or is it the hair wrapping?

If it is braides then what kind are they.

Do they do the whole head?

How much do they run??

Do you have to be a GF resort guest to get it?

Do you have to be an on site guest to get it?

Sorry so many questions but I was just thinking it would be a great bday gift for my DD who is turning 11 while we are there.

Thanks for any help..

I think they are hair wraps, not braids. I had this done when I stayed at Coronado Springs. All the resort pools must offer this. I forget the cost.

However, if you are not a resort guest, you CANNOT use any of the pool facilities at any of the resorts. Also, even if you're staying at say, the Polynesian, you cannot "pool hop." So you may be out of luck with the braiding at the GF.

When my DH and I were in Busch Gardens in Tampa, they had the hair wraps there. So maybe you'll find them in the theme parks.

Thanks for the info scanne.

I was aware of the "pool hopping" thing, but didnt know you couldnt use the other facilities at the hotels.

The hair wraps are nice, but I was looking for braiding.
Maybe someone else knows of a place you can get this done?

Yep! Periwigs Salon at the YC Resort does the braiding or cornrows. My 2 DD's had them done last summer. We made an appointment a fews days ahead, and it took about 30 minutes or so. As far as I know, this is the only place that does the braiding, unless that has changed, and other resort salons do it. :):D:)

I just had my daughters hair braided at Periwigs at YC/BC a few weeks ago. Half a head cost $45 and took about 1/2 hour. All the hair services (salons, hair wrap stations, etc.) are run by an outside firm hired by Disney. So you might get lucky and find someone at the hair wrap station that can do braids, but it is not a given. I called Periwigs the day before and made an appointment. I left DH, DS and my mom at Epcot Innovations and walked over with DD. We set a meeting time and place and used two way radios to catch up with each other afterward. It worked out great.

If you are going to do it, I recommend bringing a spray type of sunblock that you can apply as a lot of the scalp is now exposed that isn't usually. Also bring a bandana. The woman recommended wearing it at night so the braids would last longer. We didn't have any luck locating one while we were there. The braids are still in and look GREAT!

That's about what we paid last year too for braids back to the ears, or half a head. One DD's braids only lasted a few days! (She had short hair.) The other DD's braids lasted about 3 weeks. We put gel on them several times a day, and wrapped their heads with toilet paper to keep them from getting messed up when they slept at night.

The idea of a spray sunblock is a good idea too! Much of the scalp is exposed with the braids, and it can get very red.

My DD's loved the braids! I'm sure yours will too!:):D:)

I don't have too much detailed information because it was a few years back (and my memory is not what it used to be!), but I had my hair braided at a stand on Pleasure Island. I don't remember how much it cost, but there were a few of them. Hope this helps!
