Had trouble with home wireless router in WDW. Why?

So far we have not had any major issues with our NetGear which we use with our MacBooks, a Windows laptop, iPhone and iPod Touch. Sometimes our devices pickup another wireless modem in a neighboring unit or one of the Disney wireless networks which seems to confuse out Windows laptop. On that one we just click the network icon and then search for "available networks" to make sure it is picking and trying to connect to our wireless modem. The Mac OS 10+ is a bit more user friendly. 99.9% of the time we don't have to do anything. On those rare occasions that it does we just click the Airport icon and make sure it has selected our wireless modem and not the neighbor's.
