I am so sad. I had to turn down a trip and I am Disney obsessed. We are planning to go someday (we are saving). Dh called today and said work is sending him to Orlando and he was booking his flight unless I wanted to go with him, then we would drive. But...we have a 6 month old, two dogs, and I hate driving! Also he is leaving in a week and a half and if we wanted to hit the parks we would leave in a week (plus he has a convention to go to). So I said no, it is just not enough time to get things together. :sad2: Am I crazy or what?! I just want to cry, but I am trying not to think about it and concentrate on when we get to go and have our dream trip.

:faint:
Are you sure you can't do it? Only reason I would ever turn down a trip to WDW would be if it was in July!! Even then I would still consider it! Taking a baby at 6mo is easier than a 2yo, trust me. If this would be the one and only trip then I would say don't do it this way. Wait and plan your special trip. But, if this would be an extra trip, I'd be packing right now!! :cheer2:
We've driven 8 times from NY with kids and it really isn't bad. While your DH was at the convention you could be strolling main street with your baby!! Or, relaxing at the resort.

The only reason i see for not going is who would take care of the doggies. If you have someone who could take care of them or you could board them I would GO GO GO!!! I went with my DS when he was 9 months and then with DS 19 months and DD 2 months BY MYSELF driving from NY. Babies are easy to take to Disney. PLus if you forget anything you will ahve the car and there are at least 3 suoperwalmart in close range of Disney to pick up stuff like diapers, formula or something else that a baby would need.

I agree with the 2 PP's. Heck If i could I'd doggy sit for you! pixiedust: Here's hoping a little magic can change your current plans. pixiedust:

I would try it too. The baby would be fine. The weather is really nice right now and I bet you could pay some teen to feed the dogs. DS just got 20.00 for a short week-end to feed and play with the neighboors dogs!!!

I would go for it.

Heck My boss called me on a Tuesday for a cross coast trip to Cali.on the following Monday you know I got my day at DL in.

This could be a preplanner trip just to see what you need for you dream trip.

I'd find someone to sit the dogs and get in your car and go!!! I took DD at 13 months last May and she was soooo much easier than the 4 yr old was.
It doesn't take that long to throw some stuff in a suitcase...

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO....HAVE FUN!!!

Take the dogs to a kennel & go to Disney World!

We drove many cross country drives with our DS starting when he was 10 weeks old. And it was fine. LONG, but fine!

I always take my dogs to a good kennel when we go away. Sure they miss us. But they are safe & well cared for.

We took our DS to WDW for his first time at 9 months & it was a blast! On that trip, my DH had a conference for the first 5 days of our stay. We stayed offsite in the conference hotel for that time. DS & I did things around the hotel & the area. When DH could, in the evenings, he came back to the hotel & we would go to dinner & DTD, things like that. After his conference we moved over to the POFQ for a week & had an amazing time! I am so glad we did it.

I am used to traveling with DH while he works. DS & I keep ourselves busy around the hotels & areas. Sometimes DH has to work VERY late, no big deal for us. We are on vacation!

Why turn down the trip?

I feel your pain. DH just flew out this afternnon to WDW for a conference :furious: , and here I am at home with the 3 kids 5, 2, and 6 months dreaming of Disney. :cloud9:

He found out he was going last week and it was just too much for all of us to go. And I'd be at the parks alone with the kids during spring break crowds. :earseek: I just keep reminding myself we'll be there in December...But both March & December would have been nice.

Why is a week and a half not enough time to get things together? C'mon!!! You're not acting like a true Diser!!! Pull yourself together and get going!!!!
Get OFF the couch, you've got things to do Missy!!!

Hee hee you guys are talking me into it. If the drive was a little closer I might go for it...18 hours yuck. But, the other complication is we have two different people coming to stay with us from out of town that weekend and would not have time to drive back...maybe if we drove non-stop, they would still be sitting on our doorstep, lol.
I would still be debating only Dh has already booked things and he is only going to be gone one night now. He is a sweetheart and tries to make his trips as short as possible even if his flights are horrible. I am still thinking though...we don't need a conference for an excuse, maybe I can sneak in a trip this year anyway. :teeth: If there is another good deal this fall like they had last year I can get my way. :rolleyes1

What part of Indiana are you from? The only places would be just outside of Chicago or the northern border by Michigan. Find a dog sitter and go!! Our son went the first time in mommy's tummy, and then at 4 months old and did remarkably well.

I've got to agree with this! My first 3 trips as an adult were conference related. But I've learned I have a better time when I plan the trip completely as pleasure. I took my youngest DD at 11 months and that was the easiest trip with her yet (though she did have more fun on the last trip at 33 months.)

So...have a great time planning your trip!
