I rescued a cat that had been visiting our house for over a month several weeks ago. We named her Lilo. She was a beautiful, gentle cat. We kept her separate from our other cats.

Today was the day I took her to be fixed and examined, get shots. She had feline aids and was pregnant. I had to make the gut wrenching decision to put her to sleep. I guess this is why she was dumped in our neighborhood. :(

I am picking her up later for burial in the back yard.

Goodbye Lilo, you will be missed. You will always be in our hearts.

So sorry....:sad1:

Console yourself with the fact that you made her last months happy ones where she knew she was loved.

Sorry about kitty, she was loved. It is a heart wrenching decision.

I actually adopted a kitten last year knowing he had FIV. His mom was feral and had to be put down who was FIV and other issues, but 3 kittens survived.

I can't let him outside, which I wouldn't do anyway. Can't have other cats unless they are FIV positive as well. And I do have to watch if he shows signs of illness.

It is so nice that you rescued the cat. Tough that she turned out to be so sick but at least thanks to you she had a peaceful end instead of suffering and starving. And she will be remembered.

I am so very sorry for you. You did your best. Cats can break your heart, I know, i had one disappear on me and never comeback, & it still hurts.

Thank you for having a kind heart and taking her in and trying to rescue her. Sorry it had to end like that, but you did what you could!

I'm so sorry to hear about Lilo - I felt like I had gotten to know her from your posts on my cat Blackie's thread.

As a PP poster stated - take comfort that she passed knowing there was somebody out there who loved her :grouphug:

:grouphug::hug: you did good by her. Keep that close to your heart.

That's right...sometimes the most loving thing we can do for our pets is to love them enough to let them go.....:sad1:

I'm sorry.

You can take comfort in knowing that she was loved, and she didn't die alone, starving or in pain from being hit by a car. People who dump pets are the lowest form of life. Thankfully, you were there for her.

I'm so sorry. You gave her the most love she likely had in her life.

Years ago, I bought a kitten into the home who had FIV and passed. Unfortunately, little was known about it at that time and I had exposed my 10 year old baby to the kitten. Lost her as well. So, I appreciate and thank you for giving this baby love and care that she may have never known.

Thank you everyone. Do the right thing hurts sometimes. I still keep expecting to see her outside my front window.

Aw, the poor kitty. I agree that she at least had some love.
