I had my ecg scan fitted on monday, it was murder to cope with for 24 hours, had different things told to me off the heart dr.
Went back tuesday feeling very confident that everything was "fine!" how wrong was i?

It has showed up i have a "ectopic heartbeat",meaning as you "normal heartbeaters" have 98beats a hr (guessing its 98),i have 101..the dr said at 1st "you will have to take beta a blockers" which i thought oh fantastic,i am safe to go on holiday it isnt a major worry, but he did make me an appointment with my dr the same day!!
The dr hasnt prescribed me anything, and has told me to be more calmer (total worrywart),and hes told me if i want to see a heart specialist to comfirm my heart is ok,then i can,so i am after the holiday.

He told me i am safe to go on holiday and nothing will happen it just means my heart is adding 3extra beats an hour, sometimes its there sometimes its not,but everything else is fine.
The extra beats can be stress, anxiety etc..anyone else ever heard of these????

So anyway im kinda still anxious, about the whole issue but i suppose i better get on holiday now? lol at least i am 3beats over than under like the dr said.
Oh well i have had it done :):)

Thanx for all your kind messages will try and pop on before we go.

Beth & Family

P,s i need a holiday now :(

Glad your news was better than you had expected.

Hope you all have a great holiday.

Glad your news was better - now stop stressing and start looking forward to your wonderful holiday:D

Beth! Stop worrying :) ! Your doctor has given you the all clear for your trip, and sounds as if he's offering a further appointment with a heart specialist so that he/she can reassure you once you return.

They would not let you go if it wasn't safe for you to do so........... soooo......... with little time left until your trip, it's Excitement time with a capital E! Focus on your planning and your last minute chores, take lots of deep breaths and enjoy what remains of your countdown - don't let anything prevent you from having a great trip :)

Hey Mrs Stress Monster :)

You've got 6 days left to get all your packing in order and have a FANTASTIC time!!! You'll be absolutely fine as the others have said the Doc would'nt have OK'd it if there was something wrong. I mentioned before that I had a similar experience whilst I was pregnant and although they said that I could have an ECG scan I decided against it because in my heart of hearts (excuse the pun!!!) I knew it was anxiety related because it would sort of just come and go.

Have a brilliant time on holiday Beth and we're all looking forward to hearing your trip reports when you get back.

  :p :p

Beth,

I had a 24 hour blood pressure monitor fitted a couple of months back following high readings over a 12-18 month period. I'm now on medication and have to go back to my GP in a month to see if it's having the desired effect.

Like you, I'm very anxious and easily stressed. I worry about everything and I'm getting worse as I get older. It's an inherited trait - my mother and maternal grandmother are the same - and I wish I could get some treatment for it. It seems that there is a much greater understanding and acceptance of depression within the medical community than there is of anxiety. I'd like to be referred for counselling, but I haven't plucked up the courage to mention it to my GP. I'm sure I appear very self-assured and in control, so he sees it as only a minor inconvenience, and not the debilitating condition that I know it is.

I know our conditions are slightly different, but I guess we're the lucky ones as at least they've been identified. High blood pressure is one of the major causes of heart attack and stroke, but, as there are no symptons, it often goes undiagnosed. It's only because I take the contraceptive pill that I have it monitored regularly.

You have a wonderful trip, and keep us updated on your progress when you get back.

Hope I'm not too late to wish you a great trip

Oh, and try not to worry about coming home .........;)
