mother has to have a wheelchair - well it was sunday night and I got sick.

other guests refused to let me through to LEAVE....

I hope everyone gets my sinus inflection.

Anyway, I had the most trouble with a lady. I shouted at everyone to let me throw. This person turns around and tells me to wait my turn. then she start walking in front. remember I had a wheelchair..... well guess what I hit her - not intentionally - but believe me but then it was- she kept stopping.....

people the brakes on the wheelchair are at the wheels - not near the back....

whenever I am sick I meet the worst people. I need help folks - not screaming that I am rude.

I will be sick again - hopefully without mother - this was her last time. at WDW - so tell me what to do in these situations.

or do people want me to sneeze and cough up stuff on them?????

I guess it doesn't matter if your in a wheelchair or not. Some people are just plain "rude". Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Are you saying that the crowds should get out of your way because you're pushing a wheelchair? :confused3

I'm confused as to whether you had an emergency situation or not, and if so whether you were communicating that at the time.

Honestly, this sounds like you were rude! Also your comment about being sick again and hopefully without your mother and this being her last time... That does not sound very nice either!

I'm not sure I'd like it if someone rammed me with their wheelchair because they had a sinus infection. I think that would make me grouchy.

Bumping you over to C-Board for more thoughts.

odd...

But I do notice how many people ignore my mom in her WC or ECV. She had people crash in front of her at the MGM entrance. They left their line, and cut her off entirely. My husband had to go help her.

Hope you feel better soon.

Well, I can hardly follow what you are talking about. Where were you?

A sinus infection is not a reason the crowds should magically part and let you through. It's not like you were bleeding or vomiting.

So, next time I would relax and make your way to wherever you are going in a calm manner without yelling at people to move.

I hope you're not the same woman who was at Goofy's Candy Shop on Saturday afternoon! We were in line at the counter, which is roped off from the rest of the store. An older woman in a wheelchair came into the line from the wrong side (at the front, near the cash register). No problem, we just squeezed over closer to the counter to make room for her to pass. Then her daughter came up and started yelling at everyone to get out of her way and can't we see her mother's in a wheelchair! She got behind her mother to push her but got caught in the rope. Which really made her angry. The entire line of people would have had to get out of line in order to make more room. Which really wasn't the problem, she got caught on the rope because her daughter pushed her there. I felt sorry for the older woman, it was a mistake. Unfortunately, her daughter made the situation worse. If you are the same person, I'd say you are not being fair to others because you're not feeling well.

Maybe you have a hard time tolerating the crowds when you don't feel good? To me, your behavior seems rude. A sinus infection isn't an emergency. You still needed to wait your turn. I would have been upset had you hit me also.

I think you should take all precaustions to NOT cough sneeze on people. It's not their fault you are sick.

WTH??? Are you taking narcotics for your sinus infection? Because this makes very little sense.

A sinus infection is not something someone is going to catch. You do not get special treatment because you have one.

There are a lot of people in wheelchairs at DW & it's pretty silly to think that people will magically know you're coming & get out of the way.

I'm sorry you got sick on your vacation. I know sinus infections are the worst (and particuarly bad since I know I can never share my misery as they aren't contageous), but I think I am a bit lost as well. If you thought because you weren't feeling well and no one was letting your mom and yourself cut in front of them, then I think you were the one who was rude. I have helped family and friends on ECVs through the parks and we did have problems trying to get through a smaller pathway. I went down to block one end for like 30 seconds so my friend could get through (the path in MK was literally only wide enough for the ECV) and people kept pushing through, then would get ticked off because they couldn't get through because my friend was there. I told them that there wouldn't be room, but did they listen? Nope

Anywho, I hope you feel better soon!

I am really having a hard time understandng what you are saying in your post.

sorry.

I will try again.

It was an in my opinion, an emergency - or I would not have been rude.

I was sick - sinus inflection are catching - I got this one on the airplane.

mind makes it hard for me to walk - they inflect my breathing, and ears - so I can't balance very well. and I start to panic.

So you all think a person can walk in front of a wheelchair and expect the person pushing the wheelchair to stop.

have any of your pushed someone in a wheelchair. You can't stop. Sorry!!!!

I was not cutting in front of anyone - I was trying to get out of the park.

generally people are great - they let me out no problems. this time some people refused to move- I was not asking for much just to get out of the parks.

this seems to only be a problem when I am sick. and yes sinus inflection are highly contiguous - as long as you have a fever they are contiguous - I didn't know going to the MK on Sunday that I was sick - I got sick in the parks.

the person next to me on the airplane on Friday was probably where I caught it. he was sneezing and coughing say it was a cold. what I got was certainly not a cold.

believe me pushing a wheelchair is not like a stroller. You have the control with a stroller - with a wheelchair the person in the wheelchair has the control. Mother does not want to help and won't.

I want to know what to do next time I get sick in the parks. Since that is the only time I have trouble. When I am well everyone is very helpful - but when I am sick - it is a big problem trying to leave.

I wanted out before I passed out - which almost happen on the bus.

maybe because I feel so bad but believe me the way I felt I would have been walked on by the crowds on Sunday.

so how do I explain that I need help?????

Honestly, if this is really an issue for you, I would stand absolutely still and ask a Cast Member to help you. If you cannot control or stop the wheelchair, you are a danger to anyone in your way. I would also question why you would be using it if you can't control it, but that's probably a topic for another thread.

I've also never had a viral sinus infection, only a bacterial one, but I'm not a medical professional, so I really can't address whether they are caused by both.

But I do think you should tell a Cast Member you are sick, need help controlling the wheelchair, and are beginning to have a panic attack. I'm pretty confident they would rather help you than have you mow down the guests in front of you.

I really don't know what to say except that sinus infections are NOT contagious.

The cold that might have helped to bring on a sinus infection could have been contagious at one point, but you are right, a flat out sinus infection is not. At least this is what my doctor said to me. And that seems to be correct as I can get a full blown one and not a single person gets sick. They are not at all "highly contagious" in my book since no one I know has gotten sick after me... high fever included. Most of mine are brought on by sinuses being plugged up... flying just aggrevates that even more for me.

Spiceycat, I suggest the next time you are feeling this poorly, ask for the assistance of a CM. You probably just looked like a rude person trying to push your way through with a wheelchair. I've seen some at WDW do that, they think a wheelchair entitles them to more.

I am sorry it was that bad for you though. I hope next time a CM can help you out if you are in that bad of shape.
