Had Our DVC Canvas Framed Tonight -- Wanna See?

Took mine to Michael's yesterday. They didn't have a white frame, so I had to go with black and it cost a little more. But thanks for the great tip! It should be ready in a couple of days!

I hope it turns out great! :thumbsup2

I got mine today -- I almost ATTACKED the FedEx lady because I KNEW what she was delivering -- and I am headed to Michael's tomorrow. Now... For all you smarties out there: How exactly do we pronounce "giclee?"

The reason most framers will tell you they don't frame them is the print goes all the way to the edge and you can lose some of your art by covering it with the edge of the frame. You have to be careful what frame you pick.

Another way to frame it and not lose any of the art is to float it. This can be more expensive to do, depending on the frame you choose, the mats and your background. Here is an example of a floating giclee print. You can certainly float it, within a frame with just a solid background and not add the extra mats to it and it will be less expensive.

We have been members for almost a year. Are they sending these to all members? Not one to whine but I would love to have one of these. :goodvibes

All members should get one.

Wow ... personally, I think I'll live with "losing" a bit of the edge of the canvas artwork to stay within the "under 20 bucks" price range (it doesn't detract from the image, IMHO) -- it's not worth it to me to pay hundreds of bucks to keep the edge, LOL!! :teeth:

Thanks for posting the picture-that's beautiful! I posted asking how to frame it. Whoever responded said it was meant not to be framed, just hung "as-is", which I didn't want to do. I love what you did-Michael's, here I come!

Techinically, this is true, but I won't know for sure until I get mine!

Looks Great!

Sammie, the $350 price tag sure woke me up this morning! :rotfl:

This weekend DH and I will be going out to find a frame.

Thanks for all the useful information. I never cease to be amazed by all I learn on the DISBoards!

I went to Michael's today and found a frame I liked, a medium-colored wood frame that I figured could match anywhere. The framing guy was extremely helpful and guided me toward one that would fit because it ws "deep" -- recessed enough to accomodate the chunky canvas frame. He then took it behind the counter to put the paper backing on it, plus the hooks with wire hanger and the little rubber feet so it doesn't mark the wall. He even made a little paper pocket on the back out of the same paper, so the "certificate of authenticity" could be taken out and looked at.

Best part? Other than the cost of the frame ($24 plus the 40% discount coupon or about $14), there was NO CHARGE -- he says the Michael's sale ad offers this service for FREE! I was thrilled... Plus the nice man thought my Mickey giclee was very cool and asked all about it -- and of course I am always happy to talk Mickey.

Everyone head to Michael's! :thumbsup2

I think that is more due to the cost of that particular giclee.

I got it , I got it! I'm off to Michael's with my coupon and giclee in hand. Looks like today was the day for Michigan deliveries.

Our Michaels did have a thicker frame, suitable for "artist canvas" framing if you removed the glass. Thanks again for pointing us to Michaels!

Glad I could help! :teeth:

Just went to Michaels and got a frame. Unfortunitely, we were not so lucky - I had to pay $28 for the frame and installation. I too went with the white frame. I will pick it up later.

My Michaels was too busy when I went yesterday to help me. I am going to try again tomorrow. I saw two white frames I liked. One was 19 and the other was 23. The more expensive frame was not made very well. The cheaper one had more details. They were 40 or 50% off yesterday, so I hope they still are on sale tomorrow.
