Had my eyes dilated today

During my routine eye exam.

He put the drops in at 10:45 AM.

My pupils are still as wide as saucers almost 4 hours later!! I don't remember them taking this long to return to normal before!

Have you ever had this happen? Is it normal?

and some times it is all day.....just hold on......and be patient

I know it's really aggravating, but don't worry. Sometimes it just takes a long time for the medication to wear off.

I once had a dilation last about 24 hours, but that was when I had my pre-op exam for LASIK. Now that freaked me. Usually it will last around 4 to 6 hours for me.

Yep, that sounds about right. They should be going down soon.
Like Pumba I go every 6 months for this. In fact I have an appt in 2 1/2 hours for it.
BTW, did they tell you this would be happening? I hope you didnt have to drive home afterward.

I've had this done before, but it never lasted this long!

And yes, I drove home! What an adventure that was!

I wore those dorky looking plastic disposable roll-up things under my glasses! I must've looked so weird, but it was better than the alternative!

I remember the time many years ago when my DH had an eye appt. (I was with him) and he had his eyes dilated.

Unfortunately, he had driven his MOTORCYCLE and had to drive us back home on it with his eyes like that! I couldn't drive it!

Now THAT was interesting...

Oh, my gosh, I just had this last month. I NEVER remember having it done like this before. I felt like a vampire...every time I was in light I had to shut my eyes...its took all night for them to get better. DH laughed and couldn't look at me cuz he said I looked freaky (he was kidding). And, I somehow managed to drive home too. I hate having that done!

I've had this done several times so far and untill the last time I had no problems that my very dark sunglasses could not handle. When it was done last year I went by myself based on my previous experiences. BIG MISTAKE. The sunlight actually HURT. I have no idea how I managed to drive the 10miles home with my eyes closed but I did it. LOL
