We're coming from Australia and booked our stay months and months ago and asked for adjoining rooms. We leave tomorrow morning and I rang Hojos to confirm our booking and we don't have rooms together. There is a room in between us. We booked so early because of this reason. They say to ask when we arrive. I hope they can do something for us. We have four young children and it would make our stay so much more enjoyable if we could actually be together and not be running from room to room so we can brush teeth etc. I really hope they can help us when we get there.

(eta) They fixed the problem for me easily. Thanks HoJo's. whew

I guess we could just do everything together in the one room and then seperate for bed but then Hubby and I won't be able to talk and plan and stuff and we won't leave our kids alone in the rooms. :(

Wow jacs I am so dissapointed for you. Our stay at Hojo was great (apart from an issue on check in  ).

I don't know how old your children are but I think that you need to tell them that you NEED adjoining rooms not just want them. For me it would be a safety issue. You do not want your kids to have to walk out into the hallway and down 2 rooms to get to you, they need to be able to walk through a door to get to you. I think that you should tell Hojo that it is not acceptable to put you or your children in a position where any of your safety is compromised in any way, especially if any of your children are small.

Hope you get what you want :flower3:

I'd call Marriott and see what they can do to give you a comparable rate at their Fairfield Inn. It's right across the street from DL and we've always had a good experience there. (It's located very close to Howard Johnson's - on the same street - and actually closer to the Magic.)

Our kids ages are 9, 7, 5 and 3 so they are all too young to allow them to go out in the hall by themselves. Dh and I would definitely have to split up :( Grandma is coming too but I can't leave her with the responsibility of my kids seeing as though I have so many :rotfl: She says she'll do it but she needs a holiday too.

I'm very sorry! I'd definitely call back and ask them what they can do to make it right, since you made a specific and necessary request and they didn't come through. At the LEAST you would think they would be able to have you switch rooms part-way through. I know that is a pain for all concerned, but I'd take it over not having adjoining rooms at all.

Another option is trying to find another hotel; hopefully Hojo would waive your late cancellation fee for you.

(Though if I were you and the worst happened, I would let Grandma watch the kids for one night. ;) )

(The weird thing about hotels in general--I can't speak for HoJo's--is that even though someone books months in advance, they only arrange the rooms relatively close to the arrival time--it's not like they hold a specific room for someone immediately after they book. I suppose assigning rooms far in advance would make it hard or even impossible to book to capacity. It sure is annoying, though! Like when my parents request a rental car with hand controls so my dad can drive and confirm several times, only to find that there is none waiting at the lot when they get there. :( )

I hope everything gets worked out with Hojo and whether it does or not, I hope you have a delightful trip!

To the OP, when you call the hotel, you need to ask for connecting rooms--this is the room type that has a door that connects the 2 rooms together. Adjoining rooms just means that the rooms are next to each other (it does not mean that there is a door that connects them together). I hope that you get what you need!

Email Lorealle! Her email address has been posted here, and you could also PM her, she's hojoanaheim on these boards. Maybe you just weren't talking to the right person (did you call the Anaheim number during pacific time business hours, and not between noon and 1pm?). And yes, tell them you have small kids and need connecting rooms.

I hope I said connecting rooms when I booked. I dunno though.

Bumbershoot, I pm'd her. I hope she gets it.

It would have been about 8pm so I didn't get in house reservations. That's good news I guess because there wouldn't be much they could do but HoJo's themselves might be able to help me. Now I have some hope. :)

It wouldn't totally ruin our trip or anything, it's something we could deal with but it would be so much more pleasant with the connecting rooms.

Hope things do work out for you so you have an enjoyable trip! :goodvibes

Think we all need to remember that when we do make requests that is all they are is a request not a guarantee.

EMAIL her. I PMed her over about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back.

Definitely email, and definitely do not listen to anything that central reservations tells you!! You need to tell them your situation and they will do all that they can to help you!

not sure of your dates, but I checked Desert Inn and Suites and they have C-1 and C-2 suites open for this weekend. Is it too late to change hotels?

Thanks for lorealle's email guys. I've just emailed her. She's good enough to jump into the pool for us, hopefully she can help me :rotfl:

We're staying for 10 nights so I think it would be hard to change and we really want that pool that HoJo's has for the kiddies to play in. We've also arranged for F2 to decorate one of our rooms so I think it's just too late to do all that. Thanks for checking into it for me Janette. That was so sweet of you.

They fixed it they fixed it they fixed it :tigger:

We were in building 2 with double queen suites and they've moved us to building 5 with oversized double beds but.......................................we have an interconnecting door. Woohoo. I'm so relieved. I hope building 5 will be ok. The lady "Kimberly" was sooooooo helpful and friendly and she said the bed differences was only 3 inches. We'll be sharing with little ones probably anyway.

WOw I'm happy :)

Thanks HoJo's

What a great outcome (Lorealle's wonderful). :thumbsup2 Now you can relax and enjoy your stay. Oh, and you might want to change your title. :)

So glad they were able to fix it for you! We will be arriving tomorrow at Hojo's too (but in bldg 2). I will have my LGMH on my baggallini! :goodvibes

I'm so happy for you!!!!! I've got to say that, in my experience, HOJOs has amazing customer service! I also find it completely amazing that Lorealle is willing to share her email address with us here & help resolve any issues :)
