That's the "bad" news..

The good news is that I didn't "break" anything - which is really a miracle..:thumbsup2

Got up yesterday morning and made my coffee in my one-cup coffeemaker.. Stood there for a minute - waiting for it to brew - put my milk and sugar in it - took a sip - and started to walk away..

All of a sudden I felt like I was going to faint - anyone who has ever fainted knows the feeling.. I tried to set the cup on the counter - so I could quickly lower myself to the floor - but everything happened too fast.. The cup and I both hit the hard, ceramic tile floor at the same time.. I landed on my tail bone, arm and wrist - but was able to quickly finish laying out flat on the floor so I wouldn't black out.. Called out to my DD (who was still sleeping) - at the same time that her dog went racing into the bedroom to try to "nudge" her awake.. As soon as DD got to me, she quickly wet a dish towel with cold water and slapped it on my face and neck.. I didn't "black out" entirely - and I'm pretty sure it was because I sprawled out flatly as quick as I could - with one side of my face on the cold floor.. DD said I was as white as a ghost - lips were totally white - but my color started to return pretty quickly as soon as that awful feeling passed..

I knew I was "hurt" (as in banged up and bruised) - but definitely nothing broken and thankfully I didn't hit my head.. I actually hurt more today (and in more places) than I did yesterday..

I told my Dson-in-law that when he remodels the kitchen, he might want to consider "foam" flooring..:rotfl:

Not sure what caused this - although over the years it has happened to me a few times here and there - and the doctors have never been able to find any cause for concern.. Of course if it happens again, (or I develop any other unusual symptoms) I'll see my doctor.. For now, I'm just so very, very thankful that I didn't hit my head or break any bones.. My "guardian angel" must have been watching out over me..:goodvibes

Oh - one "other" piece of bad news My very old Mickey Mouse coffee mug (made of milk glass and put out by Pepsi years ago) shattered into a million pieces..:sad2:

I'm very particular about coffee mugs (texture issues) and have no idea where I'm going to find another coffee mug that won't bother me..

That's the "worst" of my worries though, so I'd say I got off pretty darn easy!! :thumbsup2

wow..glad to hear you are ok. I faint too every now and then...it's really scary. My doctors have never really told me why...it's happend since I was a child. I think it might be my very low blood pressure, but I don't know.

Oh my gosh! I'm glad you weren't seriously injured. That must have been a scary feeling, though.

I've hit the age where, if I fall, I know I'm going to break something. (My last fall caused a torn rotator cuff!) I'm an old bag of bones. :)

I'm glad you didn't break anything, but I really think you shouldn't wait for it to happen again to get things checked out. One of the major causes of fainting in older people is heart issues, usually rhythm issues. Not something you really want to mess around with. I hope you'll call your doctor monday. And if it happens again this weekend, you need to go to the ER. Fainting is not a normal thing.

glad your OK. Sometime it is a blood pressure issue. Nothing they can do about it most times. I hope you find another mug. I dropped a plate out the the cabinet once, just after I made my cup of tea in my Mickey mug. It hit my mug and broke it straight down the middle. All I remember thinking is that it didn't is that the tea didn't stay in the good half like it does in the cartoons. Did I mention the plate hit my head too .... lol !

My DD13 has this issue that her eyes go black every once in a while. I find it is when she moves too fast or is trying to do too much stuff at once. Last weekend she actually blacked out and hit the floor. Id din't know it until afterwards cuz I thought she was jumping around in her room to the music as she often does but she came downstairs crying cause it hurt when she fell and she was scared. After lots of research previously, I feel I know what happened and she was alright. I started joking with her that she really was blonde, forgot to breathe while she was walking or couldn't do both at the same time, must be the BLONDE ! She felt better and I am watching her closer since she will be up for a license in a few years and I don't want this happening more often cuz it will interfere with her driving of course. Dr says it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about but to watch it to get worse.

Well at 60 yrs. of age - and weighing a "whopping" 92 lbs. - I'm a pretty "old bag of bones" too - which is why I say it's a "miracle" I didn't break anything.. LOL..

All kidding aside though, I have to admit I was pretty shaken up all day long - considering what "could" have happened.. It's been a long time since that feeling has taken me over so quickly that I couldn't at least get down to the floor on my own - and I sure as heck hope it doesn't happen again!!!

Ironically, I have a slip in my purse right now from my doctor to schedule a bone density test - to see if I need supplements.. I think we may have just found out how "dense" my bones are..:rotfl: That is one very, very HARD floor!!

I'm so glad to read that you didn't get badly hurt! And I hope you're able to find another cup that you'll be comfortable drinking from.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt too badly! And I hope you can find a replacement mug soon. :)

C. Ann, be prepared to be sore for the next couple of days.

About a week ago, I went out with my puppies in my backyard. It was dark and they don't like to go out alone. Unfortunately, one of the puppies is a digger. As I was walking back toward the door, I stepped in a hole he had dug. I fell flat on my face. I banged up my knee and one hand, but nothing else. I was lucky. I was very close to the edge of the sidewalk. Any closer and I could have hit my head on the edge of the cement. Over the next couple of days, I got sorer and sorer. I am just now feeling back to normal. Expect to be stiff!

Glad you weren't hurt badly.

Glad you weren't hurt too badly :) And yes you'll be sore for a while. A couple months ago I slipped getting out of the tub, Dh had spilled shampoo all over the floor and it seemed clean if your feet were dry, wet feet and it was beyond slippery. I took out the towel rack and landed on my thigh. My back was really sore the next day because I put so much energy trying to stop myself on the way down I kinda strained it.

Glad to hear you weren't seriously hurt.

My friend just had a *horrible* fall in the blackout in the northeast. She went to get her 1 year old who was crying in the dark. She took a turn into what she thought was her bedroom and basically walked into her open staircase!

Baby had surgery for a broken femur and she has a broken nose and elbow.

Fall can be serious business!

ouch! hope you're feeling better soon! i have high BP and get that way sometimes. you're gonna be sore though for a few days.

i somehow feel down the stairs at my house, i was near the bottom and i have no clue what happened. i'm guessing i got to close to the skinny edge... anyways, i ended up on hands and knees with a carpet burn and was sore for at least 4 days. i'm hoping that was my one "trick" for the rest of the year!

C.Ann that has to be so scary, boy you are a bit of a thing there gal, I am what is called, cough cough, big boned,,agh hummm. But at 45 I had a bone density and no kidding I was found to have bone density loss. I would NEVER have thought that!

But, you mention that you had issus with this in the past, my son has a hyper vegal nerve and it causes him to pass out as you describe. Sometime when he gets up to go to the bathroom, sometimes just standing there he goes down, once when he had blood drawn, he actually had seizure and went blue in the lips, IN THE DOC's office thank goodness.

I think instead of the foam floor you need a pillsbury doh boy out fit, like the Ghost busters movie.
I would have a good blood work up, get all the test done that you should at our advancing age and take care of yourself.

Hope you feel better soon.
Di

That sounds scary! Glad you didn't break any bones. Take it easy. Let your family pamper you some.

I'm glad to hear that you're mostly alright. Too bad about the mug, but better it's broken than one of your bones.

Another "fall" victim here. I had polished the furniture the day before and some of the polish had gotten on our wood floors. I'm walking around in my bare feet (dumb, I know), slip on the floor and CRASH come down right on my tail bone. Incredible back pain. Turns out I fractured (compression fracture) my L1 vertebrae. I'm glad to hear that the only thing that is broken is your coffee mug, and hope you will be feeling better soon.

So glad to hear you didn't break any bones, but sorry to hear about your favorite Mickey coffee mug. :( I wonder if you might find one on eBay?
