We had the most wonderful week imaginable! Traveled with a group of 9: me, DH, son(10), daughters (6,4,3), parents, and son's friend (also 10). Parents had a cat. 6 (upgraded at port, not free though) and us and kids in connecting cat. 10's on deck 2.

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them, remembering the answers will be MY take on things ;) ;) .

Did your 3-yr-old go to the kid's club, and did she like it if she did? We have a 3-yr-old who goes to daycare and should be okay in the club, but it takes him a little bit to warm up to strangers.

We were able to bump our 4 year old up to the 5-7's (she'll be 5 in December) but our 3 year old went to the 3-4's group. She LOVED it! I think it was Monday we kept going to get her and she would NOT leave! We tried 3 times and finally at dinner we made her come out to eat with us (a must for us every night!). After that we were more selective when to take her -- not too early -- we wanted her to experience the Mickey pool!

The counselors are FABULOUS! We would see them other places around the ship and they always knew the kids' names and would swoop them up and spin around (mine happen to love that!)

We had a very positive experience. My 4 year old didn't stay in as much and beeped us almost every time after about an hour or so BUT that is her personality! Did not bother us or surprise us. When we went to Palo's they never beeped us (just tell them when you are going and the earliest they can call you and they will note it on the computer).

We went on the Eagle Catamaran on St. Maarten afternoon without the kids -- so they were in the club from 1pm to about 5:30 and had NO problems whatsoever! I was nervous to do it but they were great!

How did DS10 enjoy the cruise? Liked best? Wished he didnt do? DH, DS10 and I leave for our Magical Eastern cruise in less than 5 wks.
And advice on my son would be much appreciated - thanks

Howdy...did the cruise last 2 years in a row....3 night Wonder two years ago with wife and daughter....last year just the wife and this year...11/30 Magic with the wife only...it must be fabulous cruising with 9 members of your family...your own table at dinner....fabulous service...sounded great...may I ask how much it cost to upgrade the cabin on your trip...we are in a category 8 and would love to surprise the wife.....and is it cheaper to upgrade when you are there???( if you might know the answer...or maybe someone else might know....thanks!

:D We sailed on the Wonder Oct 13, Had to say what a wonderful and completely perfect vacation it was. The activities were super, food fabulous, room (delux inside) perfect. We found it to be the best. Lots of storage, great layout, and because of the lack of window, I slept past the crack of dawn and my family loved it. Sleeping a little later turned out to be fun and needed after all the late night activities I could not miss, clubs, movies romantic walks!!! My DD (15) had a fab time, friends, activities, it was a perfect vacation for all. I did get to see a varanda room, nice, but less storage, and I had lots of fun spending the money I saved. Waiters are the best and we had a very kind hostess for our room. Only tip I must pass on is bring something for sea sickness you never know how you will handle it. Poor DD and DH both battled it. Also don't bring any food , if it is opened you can't brink it home. Never a lack of food or drink anyway. This was the trip of a lifetime and Disney is Magic, you are treataed so well. I didn't want to come home and can't wait to be able to take a 7day!! Castaway Cay is magical, so beautiful and clean.
Any guestions ask, DC Crazy

My DS 10 and his friend LOVED it! I gave them sign in/out privileges and that was nice. They actually spent more time in the lab than I had anticipated! They had a blast in there! My son is very shy, that is why we took a friend. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION for us! Their curfew was the same time as the closing of the lab and they were always back in the room 5 min. or less after closing.

They did not enjoy shopping in St. Maarten (no big surprise) but LOVE their color changing t-shirts! Those shirts are sooo cute and you can bargain so we got them for less than $10 each (we did buy some for DS's friends family too).

The highlights for them -- ordering room service at least once a day! (I left money in the drawer for their tips), the Atlantis Submarine -- they LOVED that!, doing the Banana Boat on Castaway Cay, and the lab activities!

Any other ?'s Barb, just ask (I KNOW you're not shy about asking ;) LOL - we learn alot from them too!!!, so thanks.)

Upgrade for my parents at port -- we had gotten them a category 9 room on deck 10, they upgraded to a cat. 6 on deck 6 smack in the middle of the ship for $358. Not bad. It was worth every penny for them and then some! We asked, for cat 10 to cat 6 it was $649 per room. NOT WORTH IT TO US! We had connecting rooms and could have upgraded to connecting rooms in cat.6 but chose not to. GOOD decision for us! We LOVED our cat. 10's and will go with those rooms again! The kids slept later, we NEVER felt cramped (even with 7 people in the two rooms!), It was never claustrophobic at all! left the closet cracked at night so had night lights - just great! Were hardly in the room (except the boys ordering room service!), kids napped in the club a couple of times - they just let them sleep, never paged about that!

DH and I want to go alone now! Probably will do a cat. 10 or lower then too! Found so many other things to spend my money on -- and did  .

Disney6...thanks for a great rundown report....we are ready...I mean ready to go...but have to wait 33 days....as far as upgrades go...we asked on the phone the other day to move up from a category 8 to a 6--nothing available in 6 so to go to a category 5 would have been $800. more....I am just curious if they will charge you less if you upgrade on the ship the day you sail....200-300 to upgrade is tolerable...but to spend 800 for an outside verandah seems to me to be a waste of money.....maybe it is just me......so I guess I will ask at the ship...we should be there about noon on 11/30, so I guess we will have plenty of time to find out. When they changed the cabin for your parents, did everything else stay the same as far as dining...shows...etc?
I have done this a couple of times but I never seem to stop coming up with questions...
Thanks again...

.

Please tell me about the color changing t-shirts. Was this one of those shirts that are chaged by UV light? I have seen a brand at the Maryland shore called Del-Sol. Is it them? Where exactly were these available, if you remember? $10 sounds like a bargain for that.

I have a DD 13 and twin DD/DS 6 that would love them. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks.... Paul

So they won't let you back in the country with food? Geez, that is going to make it a little more difficult to pack snacks for the kids for the flight home. Thanks (I think :) )

When my parents changed cabins everything else stayed the same. Their luggage was late getting to them (I know because it sat outside their old cabin - across the hall from us - until all other luggage was delivered.) They still got it before dinner but after the drill.

When we got off the water taxi (great deal by the way - $5 per day, kids under 12 FREE) and got to the main street we turned left, went down quite a ways and the shop we got them was on the left, up some stairs. I don't know the name of it. You can find the shirts all over but this particular place was the best for bargaining. When you buy 3 shirts you get a color changing ring free. We got 4 rings!!!! They are like the Del-Sol shirts I've heard about. Sorry we didn't buy more - they are soooo cute! My DH even bought one and he doesn't buy stuff like that for himself! The price they first ask is $13 or $14 which I still would have paid.

I did have a bunch of snacks for the car/plane ride home and had NO problems bringing them off the ship. They don't allow fruits of any kind or open bottles of alcohol. Am sorry I didn't order some of the FABULOUS chocolate chip cookies, baggie them and bring those! Next time........

Thanks for all of your great information! I am soo excited to go on my cruise now!!!

When is the best time to sign your child up for the children's program? Should we sign my DD up even though I'm not sure she will go?

Absolutely sign your child up - the things they have are so cute! She can go for an hour or less at a time if she wants. I'm sure there was more than one day we signed in/out probably 6 times!! You can also sit in the club/lab with her until she is comfortable. The counselors were just GREAT!

We "registered" after the drill but before dinner and their first official event and there was no waiting, noone else in the clubs really -- very easy and very fast! You can also sign up all the age groups together in one place (we had 3-4; 5-7; and 10-12), I went to the club to sign up the girls and DH went to the lab to sign up the boys and they ended up bringing him over to the club so we could coordinate passwords, beeper, etc. Bottom line: do it all in one place.
