Had a bad fall at BWV today...

It was my parents first day of vacation to celebrate their semi retirement and my mom tripped on a piece of broken up sidewalk and broke her ankle in three places. It took the ambulance a long time to find them so she was sitting there in pain a long time. Disney was pretty good about about it and did pay for my Dad's cabs back and forth to the hospital. It was frustrating returning to the hotel though and not having a wheel chair available. I know wheel chairs are often limited at hotels, but I figured since she was hurt on their property that they would've made sure that one was available to her when she returned two days later from the hospital. It's now several months later and she is still in a lot of pain and cannot walk for any length of time.

:smokin: :cake: I'm flaming you here, but these were the only icons with fire!!:goodvibes

Ready to be flamed by BW lovers, but this is typical of the kind of service we have gotten from the BW front desk area. We don't stay there anymore because we really, truly feel that they don't give a **** about the guests there. I have never felt that way about anyone at Disney anywhere, but the CM's at the BW really don't seem very caring or concerned about anyone or anything. Just speculating, but I wonder if the care would have been better at a different resort. Sorry, just my opinions based on our own experiences at the BW. Fire away!

My mom was hurt at BWV about 2 years ago. It happened on our first day of vacation while she was going down the steps to the pool area. (The steps that were on the left hand side, close to the bar.) The steps were all painted the same terra cotta color and were a long stride. Well, you guessed it, she missed a step and landed on one side of her face.

This picture was a few days after it happened. The WHOLE side of her face was black and blue. This picture really doesn't look half as bad as it did in real life. She was so lucky she didn't break her jaw. The pool people came over to check her and gave her a soda and an ice pack. then they were gone. We thought she would at least get a phone call from a manager to see how she was but we got no such call.

My father was livid. Every day, he would ask the head pool guy when the steps were going to be painted b/c there could very easily have been another accident. Every day there was no paint on the steps and no follow up from BW. My parents just wanted an acknowlegement of the problem and maybe a little, Hey how are you doing..."

Well since that time, my dad has been obsessed with asking every one he knows if they happened to go by the BWV pool and did they paint the steps. Noone checked for him. Well I was at BCV in Oct and went over to BWV with my camera....Look what I saw! PAINT! Dad is now very happy and we are going to stay at BWV in 5 weeks. I just know he'll run right down to the area where Mom fell and check the paint on the steps himself.:thumbsup2

Here are the steps in Oct. 2007. A little dirty, but well marked!

Op I hope you are feeling better soon. I am so sorry to hear about your fall. I do understand your frustration.
Take care!

My mom was hurt pretty badly in Jan when we were at the BWV. We walked on to the boardwalk in the morning and it was wet and she slipped and fell on flat on her back. She's 70 and is still having a lot of pain although the x-rays were negative. There were 2 signs indicating "caution wet pavement" but they were up by the bakery which you wouldn't see if you walked on to the boardwalk from the lobby area. Looked as if they had just washed down the entire boardwalk since it hadn't rained the night before. They really need more signs and in practical spots where people would enter the boardwalk

Sorry... I'm going to edit this and let it go........

I was walking out of the self-parking lot at BW, and fell over a speed bump that was only partially marked. I fell over the side that had no markings on it. I hit my head, nose, and chin on the cement, and cut up my hands. My knee hit the speed bump. I was a mess! They helped me at the BW valet parking desk, and I refused 911, too. Once I got home I had to have surgery to repair the knee, and, had I accepted the help, I would have had a less severe injury. I was more concerned about all the facial scrapes and bruises, though. The knee didn't begin to hurt until about 3 days later. :scared1:

Fell over a speed bump!?!? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Why do you find that funny? Especially since the injuries suffered were significant.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't happen to share your opinion. :goodvibes

:grouphug: You know, when you are expecting the pavement to be smooth, and it isn't, it's hard to adjust and sometimes we fall. I'm sorry this hapened, and so far, I haven't fallen when I've walked on one, but I've almost toppled.

I'd be surprised if they don't have falls on a regular basis in the a.m. on the boardwalk. Went down with my DD early one morning and she slipped more than once in flip-flops (didn't fall though).
