HA rooms at AKL??

HI, we just change our ressies to AKL. Due to an accident a few months ago, that left me with a gimp arm, I've requested a HA room. I would prefer to have a roll in shower for safety as I can't grab for anything if I start to wobble. Does anyone know where these are located. My ressie's for a standard view (the only type available)

I've recently heard they are only in the pool view rooms, which didn't make sense to me. Does anyone know for sure?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to tell you to make sure not only to request an HA room but specifically one with a roll in shower. Some HA rooms have roll in showers, some don't. If that's something you need specifically make sure it's specified on your reservation!

You might be safer in a regular room using a shower bench which they can provide if the issue is standing safely in the shower. Otherwise the roll in shower rooms do have a fold down bench so you can sit and the accessible tub rooms also have grab bars ( and you can request the shower bench for them as well. ) The larger h/a bathroom does take up some of the space that would otherwise be utilized for the rest of the room. I've stayed in the roll in shower rooms before and they are available in every room type, so basically it could be anywhere within that category. The standard rooms are to the left as you face the check in area and overlook the parking lot ( good for people watching).---Kathy

I told the CM exactly what the situation was and let them know I could do a bathroom with a bath and grab bars and a bench. I also fractured my back in the accident, but foresee that healing nicely in the next couple of months. The CM I spoke with suggested that I take a roll in shower so they wouldn't worry about my safety. I was afraid I would have to pay for a mandatory upgrade to pool view if they only had HA rooms in that category.

Not to worry- you wouldn't have to pay for an upgrade and fully h/a rooms are available with the standard view at AKL. There's a percentage in each view/category at AKL that will accomodate special needs.---Kathy
