Anyone have any ideas on how to avoid carrying a lot of water bottles around the park all day?
I thought I read on the boards here one time that the concession stands give cups with ice in them....only if requested. Thats sounds good, but if everyone did that they would not sell bottled water in my opinion.
Is purchasing bottled water the only other option aside from water fountains?

What our family did was stop at a local store a bought a case of water and brought with us the flavor packets for the water. You can get them cheap at Walmart. We took three maybe four bottles with us in a backpack and when we finished the water we refilled with the flavor packs. At the end of the day we just disposed of the bottles...

We also freeze the water bottles to make them last a little longer throughout the day. IT also gives colder water. Then we refill them at the water fountains as needed.

They will never have to worry about people buying bottled water because the FL is so horrible. The ice is a little better because it does go thru some filtration, but it's still foul if you're not used to it. I carry one partially frozen bottle in with me (I buy a case on my way to the resort) and then I just pony up the couple bucks to buy new bottles the rest of the day. I used to carry an extra frozen bottle with me, but I'd rather spend the cash than be bothered carrying too much stuff.

Some here like the personal Brita water bottle that comes with a filter. That way, you can get water from a fountain (although you don't want to read the thread about ignorant people washing their babies butts in them), and not have to carry too much around. We get around it by not going in the summer, and paying to drink beverages at the parks. I would rather do that than drink the awful water.

I always asked for ice water whenever we got something to eat. They always give it to you (in big cups). Sometimes it tasted bad and sometimes it tasted fine. We always took water as well.

The bakery on Main Street in MK always gives us a large cup of ice when we ask nicely. Just an little fyi.

We always take along a pack of instant cool-aid and lemonade. Then get the free ice-water and make our own drinks!!! Kills the bad taste and the kids love it!!

It seems that I'm one of the few people that doesn't have an issue with the water at WDW. Even dh and dd have no problem drinking it. We usually buy one bottle of water each day and then refill it at the parks...usually in a rest room. We even, dare I say, drink from from the fountains/bubblers!! We have never gotten sick and haven't minded the taste at all. Sure, it tastes different than our at home water but my brothers water tastes different also and he is only 32 miles away from us....just a different water system. But, a lot of people out there just don't like the taste of WDW water....even to the point of using bottled water to brush their teeth.

Any counter service that has the ability to give you a glass of ice water MUST do so for free. We asked for ice water at one of the stands in Tommorowland and were told we could only be given ice and not water because the water at that particular stand was not filtered and they are only permitted to give you filtered water. We did this all 5 park days on our last trip and never did anyone tell us they could not give us a glass of ice water. I was comforted to know that they will only give you filtered water.

When we are thirsty (dd, dh, and I) we buy 1 or 2 drinks depending on how thirsty we are, and share them. Throw out the bottles and party on, so to speak. The drinks dont get warm that way. Works for us

How bad can the water in FL be? I drink Philadelphia tap water all the time without any problems. Can anyone give me a comparison of FL to Philly water. I imagine it can't be any worse?!?

On our first day we made a visit to Publix and bought two 6 packs of water w/ sportscap for $5.00. On our first trip to the parks, we noticed people with their water bottles attached to their belt or belt loop. I couldn't find anything like that at WDW. We did see the neoprene bottle holders that can either be attached to the belt or over the shoulder strap for somewhere around $15.

That afternoon we made a quick trip over to the Premium Outlet stores and Samsonite had the water bottle belt clip for $4.00. It's a nice clip, but it's not like the Disney silkscreen neoprene ones.

Thre water really isn't bad as in dangerous. If you have a very delicate immune system (which I do) and your body isn't used to the particular blend of flora & fauna in the water, you can have stomach issues (which I & my family do when we drink FL water or even use the ice)

It has a particular swampiness to it - maybe high in sulphur or other minerals? I did notice on my last trip, I was able to use the ice without the usual gastric upset that I get. My DS said he thought the water didn't taste as bad as usual either. I also noticed when I bought fountain beverages (mixed with water) that I didn't get that swamp smell. Either we are getting used to it or WDW has improved their water/filtration system.
