I would like everyone's opinion hollywood and Vine or Mama melrose's
Okay i should give a little backround I have hollywood and vine for the fantismic dinner but with all the bad review's im changing my mind but i'm just not sure. oh we are also doing lunch at sci-fi.

Thank you

I haven't tried either... I have heard terrible things about Hollywood and Vine (do a search as you'll see:scared: ), and mixed reviews of Mama Melrose.

If I had to pick between the two, I would pick Mama Melrose... however, if you're going to eat at DHS, I would definitely suggest the Primetime Cafe. We LOVE it there.:thumbsup2

I agree..haven't been to H&V and probably never will unless I hear they've improved tremendously.

I have been to both. H & V was just okay, but Mama Melrose's was FANTASTIC!! I was not expecting that at all, with all of the so-so to slightly-bad reviews I had read. The service and food was so good that I asked for the manager to let him know. It was the best meal of the trip. What a nice surprise!

It is #1 on our must-do restaurant list for our next trip!

I'm going to Mama Melrose next Tuesday!

I plan on doing a review, so I will try to update you here. I'm sure you've heard this before but...

If you have not been to H&V before, but feel it is something your family will enjoy then I say go for it. I love the San Angel in Mexico at Epcot, but if I listened to all the reviews lately, I would not go back. But atmosphere is great.

Happy Planning.

H&V was so gross, the food was terrible and the service was non existant. For sure will not give this place a second try.

The first time we ate at MM it was just ok, nothing special, that was in 06. We had lunch there this past June and it was pretty good, we loved the bread appie and the salad, the pizza was ok. I would like to try dinner here again one day

My wife and I ate at mama Melroe's last year on our September visit and we loved it. I thought the food was good, the service excellent and we are going back this year. We have eaten at H&V too, but not in a long time. Anyway, I'd recommend Mama's myself. I have to qualify this by saying my wife and I have found very few things to ever complain about in any Disney restaurant, and have never really had anything "terrible" in the form of food or service. Maybe we expect less, or maybe we are lucky, but I hope our luck continues.

We ate at H&V for dinner in Feb and did Mama Melrose for dinner in Sept. Both DH and I agree- Mama Melrose! H&V dinner was not very good (character lunch was better) and we all enjoyed Mame Melrose. Very good italian food! I don't remember exactly what I got, but it had chicken, pasta, and lots of sauce- YUMMY!!!!

We went to Mama Melrose's last year and really liked it. I avoid Hollywood and Vine like the plague given what I have read about it here.

We've done H&V twice and NEVER again. Late with ADR's--30 minutes at least both times, terrible service (took forever to get drinks, no refills, plates not removed), food was medicore at best and lukewarm when there was food--took forever to replace and the whole place was just filthy.

We've done Mama Melrose the last three years. We have always had great service and good food (it's not gourmet but better than you will get at a lot of places). I was a little disappointed earlier this month. I ordered the 4-cheese flatbread pizza and did not think it was as good as in previous visits and one of our friends wasn't fond of her dish either. However, a lot of it could have done with that we were all overtired--we'd been up at 4:00 that morning for our flights and we were hot and sweaty/perspiring from touring the resort and going to Indiana Jones. But we will go back next year because two out of three good meals is good in our book.

We ate at Mama Melrose in August and really enjoyed the food. Our server was VERY SLOW though. I would try it again and hope for a better server. Never been to H&V...I'm afraid due to all the bad reviews.

Prefer Mamas, quality of food and service just a bit above H&V

I have never been to Mama Melrose but, have been to H&V. If I had to choose between a bowl of Purina dog chow and H&V....I'd choose the Purina.

Mama Melrose's was okay, my wife's steak was good, my chicken parm was horrible. I picked H&V just becase at least it is all you can eat and it is in the front of the studios. Mama's wasn't worth the walk back there.

Mama Melroses isn't one of our favorite's either. We have tried it a couple times and the service has never been anything but slow. The food was pretty good though. We are in the minority and honestly like H & V....while the food is nothing other then buffet quality....it's always been hot and they've had a good selection. We've also had good service there.

I don't think I would eat at either. This is one of the reasons we don't do the Fantasmic package. The other being the ADR's are so early. About the only place I enjoy at DHS is 50's Prime Time. I will eat at Brown Derby but I think it's overpriced and overrated.

H&V is terrible- we only go b/c we have antsy toddler & preschooler who won't always sit through a table service meal and behave and to take advantage of the Fantasmic dinner package (when the kids get older we will try Brown Derby or MM and ditch H&V altogether).
