We snagged a FDP at H & V. Can anyone tell me anything about this place. I am such a planner and got this at the last minute so I am scrambling to get any info I can.

I have no info for you, since I haven't gone yet. But I'd love to hear your opinion when you return from your visit. I'm thinking that we'll plan a FDP with Hollywood & Vine for our January trip.

We ate at H & V in August. The food is pretty decent for a buffet! Dh liked the salmon a lot.

We found the restaurant/atmosphere to be loud, but of course it's like that at a lot of the restaurants at Disney.

We didn't have a meal plan, and it was great to let our "big eater" son fill his plate again and again to his heart's desire.

Dh and I enjoyed the desserts. The kids were thrilled to make their own sundaes.

My DW and I ate at H&V in March 05 as part of a Fantasmic dinner package:

The variety was pretty nice with a good salad bar area, a few different meats and vegetables, a kids area with typical Disney kids food (pizza, burgers, man & cheese) and a nice selection at the dessert bar. The décor is 1950s era diner style. Our server was attentive. All around a nice meal, nothing too fancy (it is a buffet, after all) but nothing spectacular. The food was good, certainly, but I wouldn’t say it is the greatest place in any of the parks. Should be no trouble finding something for everyone in the party to enjoy and eat their fill. We would go back on our next trip with no hesitation, though we might try other places just for the experience (this was my first visit to MGM, so I’ve not eaten in any of the other TS locations in that park…)

It's one of our favorites. Your server will give you tickets that you will use to get into fantasmic. You line up by oscars near the entrance to mgm. They tell you what time. I always went a little early because it takes me a long time to walk, they let us in a little early. If you arrive later you will get what seats are left in the reserved section.

As far as the food, the turkey stew and the spoon corn bread are my favorites. The beef is acceptable. My ds love the dessert bar too.

We ate at H&V in June and were very disappointed. We had been there before and always enjoyed our meals. This time we found the selections very limited. My DS (15) could barely find anything he liked. I ended up eating a LOT of salmon because I also found few items that I liked. My DS did enjoy the desserts, but overall we thought our previous meals there were much better. We don't plan on returning to H&V anytime during future trips.

We at there this past August and found it to be the worst of the 6 buffets we had during our trip. The only thing we found we liked was the flank steak and rice. It seemed like a lot of the dishes had been well picked through (like the mozzarella salad had no mozzarella left, etc.) On the other hand, the service was great and we were glad to have the voucher for guaranteed seating at Fantasmic (though there were tons of general seating available when we went 45 minutes before show time). Personally, I don't think it's worth the price.

In June we were there for FDP and were in the first dinner seating. Everything was fresh and delicious, and since we were one of the first at the buffet, not picked over at all. Our server was very friendly. It was great to get a seat at Fantasmic without a long wait too. I would go again without hesitation.

HTH, Tricia

We did the FDP at Hollywood and Vine last trip and loved it. We are doing it again this trip. We happened to be the first seating last time, and planned it that way this time. Food was fresh and good. It was nice to have the buffet mainly to ourselves while they continued to seat other guests. And I personally loved the desserts!

Hope you like it! :wizard:

So what time is the first seating? I've been seeing so many people with 4pm seatings and wanting to change them for the later time. Sounds like you recommend staying with the earlier time.

Kelleigh1,

I do recommend it. Our seating is the earliest according to the CM and at 4pm. We are going to do a late breakfast and then skip lunch, eat at 4 and then have a snack during Fantasmic if need be. It is great to have first choice and not wait in line at the buffet. There were still empty tables when we were leaving!

We ate at H&V with FDP in February and really enjoyed it. We ate rather early (4:15) so the food was frech and plentiful. My kids enjoy buffets as they usually have more than one thing they will eat and my DH loves them because he can eat forever (LOL). We will be eating there again this year too. I recommend it. Enjoy.

Thanks! I just talked to hubby at lunch and he likes the idea of the 4pm dinner and either late breakfast or early lunch. We're all about skipping a meal to save some money, especially when we know we'll be eating well at another point during the day. So we'll be doing this same thing. And then we can take a leisurely stroll before heading in for the show.
