Gypsy help

i tried so hard to shadow something yesterday and just can't do it!

hopefully someday!

Right now I just weld by bottom-most layer (not a word, but hopefully you understand) and cut the top layer unwelded. Then I just glue the tops where they should be. It is a little time consuming, but it works.

So I am considering getting an Expression and the Gypsy and I'm trying to figure everything out at once.

From reading this thread it seems like you upload the cartridges once onto your Gypsy, but do you need to have them loaded everytime you use it? Could you just upload all your cartridges to the Gypsy and then get rid of them (not that I would) if you always used your Cricut while the Gypsy was connected to it?

You link your cartridges to the Gypsy and then you don't need to use them on the Cricut if you cut with the Gypsy connected to it. I wouldn't get rid of the cartridges, though. First, if your Gypsy breaks or something, you'd be up the creek. And, sometimes it's just easier to grab a cartridge to cut something rather than doing it through the Gypsy.

I'm hoping that they will make some update that will allow you to use your Gypsy as a Jukebox, i.e., you just connect it to the Cricut, do your design in either CDS or on the Cricut screen itself, and press cut. As it is now, you can design in CDS, save it as a .gypsy file, upload to the Gypsy, and then connect it to the Cricut, but there are too many steps involved in that, and hide selected contour does not carry over from the conversion anyhow! :headache: They have a few bugs to fix, but hopefully, it will be more intuitive. I wish the screen were bigger. I'm very used to working with CDS on my regular laptop or computer screen, and my eyes aren't getting any younger.
