Gymnastics parents, or anyone.....would this bother you?

I don't have a problen with the the team being asked to help - but I would have a major problem with it being done during the 2 hr session that I was paying for to get instruction for my kid. If they asked for volunteers to come in at another time, or stay after that would be different. They are ussing the team as slave labor. The kids didn't even have a choice...and you are out what ever money a half hour of instruction cost. As far as the icky stuff in there,,, they shouldn't have to touch it, at least not without gloves and even then, no.

I agree.

On Monday, when we were filling the pit back up at my gym, I tried not to let my two hour girls help. They only come three days a week for two hours. They are my lowest level of team and I didn't want to waste their time. They also have a mini-meet today. They got so upset that the big team kids got to help that I ended up letting them join in for 30 min. I did pull them one at a time for beam routines. I also just figured out what they pay per half hour, $3.50. Since I am not charging them for the three hours that I and two other coaches will spend at the gym today for the mini-meet, I will call it even.

you don't get paid for time spent at a meet?

from what I understand part of all of our meet fees include payment to the coaches.

I did an in-house practice meet. I clocked in for my hours but I did not charge the parents extra for it. These girls are a year away from going to real meets.

You are right, what you pay in meet fees also covers the coaches pay, plus gas and a food allowance.
