Really? I wear pink occasionally and I dont recall anyone rolling down the car window to call me names.

The truth is you cannot wear pink if you don't want anyone calling you gay. It is a "girly" color in the U.S. You can sometimes accent with pink (say the stripes on your tie), but wearing a pink Mickey T is usually reserved for "girly" or girls.

I beg to differ.
My dh wears pink , he has several tees and button down shirts that are pink. he has never been called any name for wearing it.
and he would be the last person you could call "girly"

Some folks will think that a man shouldn't wear pink, but then they are the same sort that you'd not care what their opinion was on much of anything.

I know any number of heterosexual men that wear pink. Thinking a man is gay because he wears pink is an over the top stereotype by any means.

From what I understood, the original poster asked if people will look at him and think he is "girly" for wearing pink. Whether we want to think it is right or wrong, people will think it is girly to wear pink. With that said, there is a "fad" going on now where pink "is/was" in to some extent.

Is it a stereotype? Yes. Did people make fun of the COURAGOUS army solider for wearing Pink? You betcha. If he was out there in "tidy whities" there is no story. Is it fair? Nope. It is a reality? Yep.

Yes, some people can get away with it. Big guy wears pink, nobody will say anything....b/c he is big. But when he is not around....

It is easy to laugh at me and say I'm backwards or I'm old fashioned or whatever. Truth is, I thought the original poster wanted an honest answer. Yes, if you wear pink people will chuckle and wonder if you are gay. Or make remarks. I'm sorry for this, but they will.

P.S. After posting what I just posted I want to be clear. I do think the story of the army soldier was BECAUSE it was funny he was wearing pink boxers with hearts. I do love our soliders. My brother is/was a solider in Iraq. He was recently flown home after a bomb/rocket took out his Jeep. I don't want my remarks to insuiate any discouraging remarks about our brave soliders. I know this is off topic, but I felt compelled to be clear about the solider.

However, assuming someone is gay solely because HE is wearing pink, is not something that is intrinsic to all observers. It's important in this world to remember that one's opinion is just that, ONE's, not everyone's.

My opinion, that is shared by SOME is that pink is not indicative of being gay when worn by any man. It is not a gay semiotic. It is not a guarantee that the man in pink is gay. If someone else has an opposing opinion, so be it. However, that opposition does not make it any more valid than the one to which it is opposed.

I use to wear pink more back in the 80's until I realized taht I just don't look good in that color. I own a few shirts with pink in them and have never had anyone say anything. Then again, it's not like I'm hiding my sexuality either. Only really pink thing I own are a pair of Ginch Gonch undies that are pink with little pigs on them.

I love my piggy undies.
