"Burnt Umber" is a color and "swathes" or, swaths are those little sample cloths the furniture/drapery stores give you to take home and decide which color goes best with the room.

For some reason, guys do not care. The whole house could be black leather and they'd think it was fine, so they don't like picking out colors, tiles, finials, etc.

Unless, of course, you spend more than they thought it would cost (usually, over $100)...THEN they have an opinion. "What about this one?! This one is FINE!" Too late, buddy. You had your chance.
