can I book at my home resort at the 11 month window... then at the 7 month window switch part of the nights of my reservation to another resort (i.e. book for 7 nights @ OKW @ 11 months then when we hit the 7 month window change the first 5 nights of the reservation to BWV, if available, but keep the last 2 nights @ OKW)...

No problem, as long as there is availability at the other resort at 7 months.

Keep in mind that you are cancelling one reservation and booking another so it all depends on availability. The problem could be if there was any kind of waiting list for the 2-nights at OKW that you want to keep. Basically you don't just cancel 5-nights and get to keep 2-nights, but technically cancel all 7-nights and then rebook the 2-nights. If there is a waiting list for those 2-nights, then you go at the bottom of the waiting list.

Of course you would know this up front before you cancel. The CM would check availability at BWV for the 5-nights, and availability at OKW for the 2-nights and if everything was available would then cancel the 7-nights and book the two new vacations.

BTW this is very unlikely that OKW would have a waiting list because it's the largest resort and at 7-months basically everything is still available. Unless one of those 2-nights is a very special night such as a studio for New Year's Eve or something like that.

Book the 7 nights by calling each day and booking day by day.
Then when you want to cancel you can cancel on either the fron tend or back end of the week to accommodate the other property.
It requires a little work in the begining but it gives you the versality and security at the same time. You can then link the separate day bookings when you are confimed at the 7 month window.

would it be better to make 2 separate reservations: one for the first 5 nights and then one for the last two nights?... then at the 7 month window assuming there is availability, I would just cancel the first 5 nights...

also is the 7 months window: just 7 months before (i.e. august for march) or is it 7 months to the day?

Bill - are you sure about this? I've been allowed to drop nights on a reservation without a problem. Kept the same confirmation number and everything. This was for the very popular early December time frame in a standard view so I'm quite sure there was a waiting list for the nights I kept.
