I was just curious...just started watching this last week.

Gunnar's mother was a friend of mine in high school. We both live in different towns now, though we see eachother every now and then at parties, etc. And, she's a facebook friend.

She said (on facebook) that Gunnar isn't portrayed very well on Project Runway. Said he's not at all like they make him seem.

So, I was just curious what those of you who watch the show think of him. I've seen a lot of his designs via his mom and honestly think he's really good. They've not shown too much of him the past two weeks, so I can't really get a feel for his personality, though he doesn't seem extra warm or compassionate to me. And I don't say that to be rude or think he's not likable, etc,...we're all different.

The first week he came off as a snotty drama queen. He's hasn't been featured as much since then.

I get him and Christopher mixed up alot. I think they are seperated at birth.

I do say he seems like he is way over the top thinking his the gift to fashion. He does remind me so much of Austin Scarlett though. The flair and the way he carries on and alot of mannerisms like he watched alot of Austin or something.

I'm sure his mama is going to say he isn't being portrated very well but I wouldn't be happy to see my child acting or saying alot of those things bottom line. However everyone has to take it with a grain of salt since film is cut and put back together to make drama.

I agree. I can't say I don't like him personality wise, but his designs are not in my group of favorites.

To me I instantly thought of Josh from last season when Gunnar opened his mouth. I strongly suspect the designers are coached and encouraged to amp up the drama for "good TV?".

I despise that a show like Project Runway with the premise of creativity, skill and hard work at its heart needs to stoop to this garbage. The switch from Bravo to Lifetime seems like it amped up the drama llama nonsense.

I am NOT a fan of Gunnar. He comes off as a self-centered, whiny brat. Just my two cents, of course. He is my least favorite.

I know when he was kicked off the first time, he took it very well (I saw his facebook posts about it), so that makes me think maybe he's not as drama queen/spoiled as you guys say he seems on the show.

The newest episode was on last night & he's never been kicked off :confused3

I think this is his second time being on PR. I just read he was on last year but eliminated in first round. I watched, and don't remember him at all.

He was on before - maybe in 2011 or maybe 2010?? Got booted off right away.

Thanks, completely missed that. Last time was he portrayed more sympathetically, less drama/nastiness? I think that gets you a ticket home quick on the show.

You're right, I'd missed that. Last season they started with maybe 20 (?) contestants and immediately auf'd 5 or 6 the 1st episode before we really "knew" them.

Sorry, I realize the editing can make or break someone, but the words still come out of their mouth. Gunnar has been playing up his witchiness (particularly toward Christopher), so that's how he is perceived.

It's a shame that Lifetime has taken this route of drama over substance.

I don't know about this person or Project Runway, but I had a friend who was in the running for a similar type of show only about interior design. They type cast and put you into a roll. They wanted her to be the "witch" and snooty type which is 100% opposite of the type of person she is. Yes, they do look for talent, but they also look at what will make a "good" show. They want drama so they MAKE drama.
