Hi,

Looking for info on Gulf Shores, Perdido Key area.

Anyone visited this area? Looking for advice on condo/hotel rental.

Is it a family type beach area? I have been to Destin and Pensacola Beach and really loved the area. Wondering if Gulf Shores is similar or should we go back to Destin.

Thanks,

herc.

We love Gulf Shores. There's so much family-oriented entertainment. (I grew up in Pensacola and always found P-Beach to be more "college kid" oriented.) There are scads of rentals available. (Just search under Gulf Shores condos.) Try to stay in Gulf Shores or between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. (The beach isn't as pretty westward towards Fort Morgan and Mobile, IMHO.)

My aunt and uncle own a condo there, so we go every year. I highly recommend the Phoenix condos...they are right on the beach and have some nice amenities (indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs, tennis courts, etc.). The condos are rented out when the owners aren't using them (this is what my aunt does). Their condo is a three bedroom/two bathroom unit, but I am not sure if they are all three bedrooms or not. Here's a link so you can look around: Phoenix condos

Thanks, Julie and Silver,

I'll check out the info.

Can either of you tell me exactly where Periddo Beach is located?

Is it west of Orange beach?

Oh,

I found Perdido on the link you gave me. Great site!

Thanks for the link, Perdidobay!

Are Alabama students back in school the second week in Aug? That seems to be the "summer/fall" cutoff lodging rate?

My dad and stepmom live about 10 miles from Gulf Shores in Foley. We go that way quite a bit. Gulf Shores is a really nice area. My step sister lives in Gulf Shores and my step brother in Orange Beach. My dad is suppose to call tomorrow and I'll ask him about the schools. If you want to know anything else let me know and I'll find out for you. I also have a Gulf Shores phone book if you need any numbers of anything. I think you would like it there.

Hi,Hercamore!
Did you ever find out any info from Eden Condos at Perdido Key??
I would love to go back!!! Prettiest beach I can imagine.

Alabama schools usually start back mid August. I think Baldwin County (Gulf Shores) starts even earlier. If you can get a Southern Living magazine, they have a lot of rental information in the travel section. I have stayed in Orange Beach a lot. I really like it.
If you have any questions just ask. The Phoenix are nice, the indoor pools are a plus during bad weather. They are smaller in size (room wise) than some others. They are a lot of Phoenix (like 8) and most of them are right in a row close together. So they are pretty easy to book. That area is a nice area. Further down towart Perdido is nice, too.

Gulf Shore Plantation on the west end is a nice(huge) family compex. Warnibg- Gulf Shores does not have that gorgeous Blue-green water that Destin is famous for!

Hi,

Kitten, Eden is tooo pricy for a 3 br unit, but looks awesome.

Gladys, no blue green water? Hmm, coming from MN and living amongst cornfields, I loved that emerald water in Destin!

Boots, thanks for the offer. What do you like to do in the area?
