Yes, it was a horrible accident but I heard on nightly news tonight that BP *did* have information before the accident that indicated an unsafe situation and the info was ignored. Now the Gulf Coast is paying a VERY high price, particularly in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Their fishing is going to be wiped out for generations to come--they will never get that oil out of the marshes. And who wants to eat shrimp and grouper that came out of an oil slick. Whole families are losing their way of life, the legacy that was passed down from grandparents to grandchildren. What are these people going to do? You can't replace their way of life with money.
Personally, I"m appalled at what's happening. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. And our govt isn't doing nearly enough to set things right. It's a sin and a shame that a business from another country has been allowed to wreak this kind of destruction on our fragile wetlands. I hold BP responsible, but our govt has some complicity too. And Obama needs to get his butt down there and take charge!
