Gulf coast weekend.

We'd like to go from Orlando to the gulf coast for a couple of days in the middle of our holiday.(march) Can anyone reccomend a hotel, not too expensive, preferably sea front. Thanks.

We stayed at Econolodge,Clearwater Beach for two days last year. Maybe a bit finctional and dated for some tastes but it was the cheapest on the beach and we'd stay there again.

Have you thought of St Pete Beach??
There are three hotels owneds by Tradewinds and they vary in price/amenities. There is the Sirata which I believe is quite a good mid range hotal and you get to use the facitilies at the 'sister' hotels. We stayed at the Island Grand in June 2001 and found it to be a lovely hotel in an excellent location.

On our last visit we spent a few days at the Best Western Sea Stone Resort - this hotel is located on the harbour - but the beach is only 2 minutes walk away.

Nice hotel - the suites are the best option - cheap rates !
