Hi we just stayed at Sandpiper Tradewinds resort on St petes, and despite what bad things people were saying about this place, we had the best time. Hotel, room, staff, pool and beach were great.
I am also curious about this. I want to book before we go down, but I want a good location and I have never been there so i dont know what that is.I want to be close to things to do in either st pete or clearwater. I also want a clean hotel. We go to daytona, but I will not book until i see the place because internet pictures are deceiving and a lot of them do not look so clean.
They have different types of rooms at different prices. It's right on the beach. We prefer this hotel because it is in Sand Key (the next bridge over from Clearwater Beach). Clearwater Beach is just getting too busy.
I'll second the recomendation for one of the 2 main SandKey hotels. The Sheraton and the new Marriott (was a Radisson) are both very nice, and just a 2 minute drive from Clearwater Beach. Sand Key is a VERY nice beach and much less crowded than Clearwater, yet you will still be close enough to Clearwater Beach to not feel isolated.
We have stayed at The Sunrise condos across from the Tradewinds resort a few times and loved it. The Tradewinds also uses this as their "overflow" incase they are booked. It is a 5 story building, w/beautifully appointed 1 - 2 bedroom condos. Also a full kitchen and washer/dryer. You can also pay the resort fee at the tradewinds and receive all of the ammenities as if you were a resort guest. If you spend a day on the beach it more than pays for itsef if you use the covered beach chairs.
